Centenary celebrated by social investment at schools

To celebrate our centenary, instead of throw- ing parties that come and go, we have de- cided to use the funds to make a difference in the lives of disadvantaged children, with a focus on education. The investment in these projects is over and above Grindrod’s planned yearly corporate social investment spend, and will benefit local communities for years to come. Investing in Maputo port infrastructure

The Port of Maputo in Mozambique will see substantial investment over the next fi ve years, says Grindrod Freight Services CEO, Dave Rennie. The Maputo Port Development Company, in which Grindrod has a 25% share, has re- ceived an extension to its port concession to 2033, with the option for another ten-year extension thereafter. This extension provides a timeline for the implementation of a port master plan and for sub-concessionaires to undertake additional investment. Grindrod’s coal terminal subconcession has also been extended to 2043, and the termi- nal will be expanded from its current 6 million tons of coal a year, to as much as 25 million tons in years to come.
