Cleland Road and Chapelknowe Road,

(Temporary Closures) Order 2011

On 10 October 2011 the Council made the above-named Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by Schedule 1 of the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991, and in exercise of all other enabling powers, which makes it unlawful for any person to drive or cause or permit to be driven any motor vehicle (with the exception of vehicles engaged on carriageway reconstruction works) on Cleland Road and Chapelknowe Road, Carfin as detailed below, by reason of works being executed on or near those locations.

Phase 1

Cleland Road and Chapelknowe Road, Carfin from its junction with Road, eastwards for a distance of 630 metres or thereby.

Alternative routes: Vehicles on the west side of the closure wishing to access the east side of the closure should proceed north-eastwards on Newarthill Road, Carfin Road and High Street, south eastwards on Biggar Road, south westwards on Main Street, north westwards on Omoa Road and westwards on Chapelknowe Road to the east side of the closure.

Vehicles on the east side of the closure wishing access to the west side of the closure should proceed vice versa.

Phase 2

Chapelknowe Road, Carfin from a point 630 metres east of the extended line of the eastern kerb of Newarthill Road, eastwards to the extended line of the eastern kerb of Morris Crescent.

Alternative routes: Vehicles on the west side of the closure wishing to access the east side of the closure should proceed westwards on Chapelknowe Road and Cleland Road, north eastwards on Newarthill Road, Carfin Road and High Street, south eastwards on Biggar Road, south westwards on Main Street, north westwards on Omoa Road and westwards on Chapelknowe Road to the east side of the closure.

Vehicles on the east side of the closure wishing access to the west side of the closure should proceed vice versa.

Phase 3

Chapelknowe Road, Carfin from the extended line of the eastern kerb of Morris Crescent, eastwards to the extended line of the western kerb of Cleland Road.

Alternative routes: Vehicles on the west side of the closure wishing to access the east side of the closure should proceed westwards on Chapelknowe Road and Cleland Road, north eastwards on Newarthill Road, Carfin Road and High Street, south eastwards on Biggar Road, south westwards on Main Street, north westwards on Omoa Road and westwards on Chapelknowe Road to the east side of the closure.

Vehicles on the east side of the closure wishing to access the west side of the closure should proceed vice versa.

Vehicular access to adjacent roads will be maintained, where possible, by arrangement with the contractor.

Pedestrian access will be permitted at all times where applicable.

Access to Park Housing Estate will be maintained throughout the duration of the works.

These works will be carried out as part of a rolling programme with no two closures taking place at the same time in the same geographical location.

The Order, which will be effective when displayed by signs, will come into operation at 0001 hours on Monday, 24 October 2011 and will remain in operation until 2359 hours on Friday, 18 November 2011.
