Football stadiums around the county are ready for another Friday or Saturday of action. Only this time everyone will be dressed up and instead of celebrating a touchdown, the parents and family will be there to celebrate graduation. The students will be wearing their caps and gowns waiting to hear the speeches from the valedictorian and the salutatori- an. Then begins the part the students have been waiting on for 12 years: their names being called. This is their time. Each one has put in the work and are ready to get that diploma. It started almost 14 years ago when parents dropped their children off at Pre-k an year later they went to kindergarten. Those were more than likely some tough moments as the children cried because their parents were leaving. And though some may not admitted, some parents probably shed some tears as they drove away. In the elementary years it was filled with projects and homework. And with each advancement, there seemed to be more late night work to do at home. Sure there were some tears of exhaustion shed. In middle and high school there were more activities like band, athletics and other clubs. Parents of course went to as many events as they could. And now the final high school event. Parents will have their cameras ready to take a picture of the moment their child walks across that stage. And of course it is only natural if more tears are shed. — Payton Towns III
