  • 45 Park Lane to Launch Luxury Wellness Space
Press Release May 2021 45 Park Lane to launch luxury wellness space (LONDON) Dorchester Collection’s vibrant and luxurious Mayfair hotel, 45 Park Lane, is set to launch The Spa at 45 Park Lane as part of the hotel experience from May 17, 2021. The 10,000 sq. ft. spa will feature Park Lane’s longest pool at 20 metres, as well as a personal training room and spacious state- of-the-art gym. Spa treatments will be by Valmont and Aromatherapy Associates. The wellness space is part of Mayfair Park Residences, the recently completed development delivered by ultra-prime developers Clivedale London located next door to, and serviced by, 45 Park Lane. Guests of the hotel will have full use of the facilities as part of their stay experience, which include separate sauna and steam rooms, a hydrotherapy pool and private changing and shower rooms. Designed by Jouin Manku, the wellness space has been specifically created to bring a sense of the outside in, referencing artistic flora using traditional Roman style mosaics from Venetian artisans. Natural timbers and light coloured stone bring a sense of calm and tranquillity; while timber slatted ceilings have been integrated to create better acoustics within the pool, gym and relaxation lounge. The entire space has been generously arranged to maximise the sense of spaciousness. 45 Park Lane’s art curator Lily Ackerman has selected works by American fine art photographer Jin- Woo Prensena and British sculptor Jill Berelowitz to adorn the space. dorchestercollection.com Instagram: 45parklane Facebook: 45ParkLn Twitter: 45ParkLaneUK Pinterest: 45parklane #DCmoments Blog: Moments The relaxation lounge connected to the pool allows guests to unwind before or after a work-out, spa treatment or swim.

  • Victoria Embankment Foreshore Hoarding Commission
Victoria Embankment Foreshore Hoarding Commission 1 Introduction ‘The Thames Wunderkammer: Tales from Victoria Embankment in Two Parts’, 2017, by Simon Roberts, commissioned by Tideway This is a temporary commission located on the Thames Tideway Tunnel construction site hoardings at Victoria Embankment, 2017-19. Responding to the rich heritage of the Victoria Embankment, Simon Roberts has created a metaphorical ‘cabinet of curiosities’ along two 25- metre foreshore hoardings. Roberts describes his approach as an ‘aesthetic excavation of the area’, creating an artwork that reflects the literal and metaphorical layering of the landscape, in which objects from the past and present are juxtaposed to evoke new meanings. Monumental statues are placed alongside items that are more ordinary; diverse elements, both man-made and natural, co-exist in new ways. All these components symbolise the landscape’s complex history, culture, geology, and development. • Suggested Accommodation Thank You for Enquiring About
Suggested Accommodation Thank you for enquiring about accommodation options. Listed below and overleaf are details of various hotels in different price ranges, convenient for the University. You can find more information about them at the hotel group websites listed, searching for London and hotel name as appropriate. The 4* and 5* hotels generally have air conditioning; the other hotels listed do not. All hotels listed have all rooms with en-suite bath or shower and WC (with the exception of the Wyndham). Please arrange your accommodation directly with the hotel or using third party booking services. The prices below are a guide and will vary depending on season, availability, advanced booking etc. An underground railway map can be found at www.transportforlondon.gov.uk/tube - our local station is Baker Street. All hotels also offer rooms for double occupancy, which usually incurs a small additional charge. THE NEAREST HOTEL The nearest hotel to the University (2 minutes walk), which we have used for many years on our courses, is the Sherlock Holmes Hotel. This underwent major refurbishment ten years ago. It is a 'boutique' style town house hotel (4*) with a good standard of facilities in modern style, including a nice restaurant - but expensive. Bathrooms have ‘designer’ glass doors which may not make roo ms ideal for sharing with a colleague! If arriving late at night, be aware that a number of delegates have found the hotel overbooked and been relocated to the Victoria Park Plaza which is 4 km away. Standard rates are around £200 per night but it is often possible to find discounts to around £150.

This is what we delve into here in these pages across London, Ascot, Paris, Geneva, Milan, Rome, Beverly Hills and Los Angeles, with Hotel Eden in Rome having joined Dorchester Collection this year. All of these are truly exciting destinations, and Dorchester Collection hotels act as concentrated focal points in these epicentres of culture, like small communities, that become enriched with every event and every guest they welcome. Yaffa Assouline collect N°14 dorchester collection... 05 Christopher Cowdray Chief Executive Officer of Dorchester Collection A WORD from hen I joined Dorchester Collection, we were W five hotels, which all operated individually. Today, we are focused on Dorchester Collection as one entity, having evolved from being a group to becoming a collection. The challenge has been to find the right properties to fit into our portfolio; they must be ‘trophy hotels’ that provide a perfect setting for the high-level quality products, personal services and memorable guest experiences that remain constant throughout Dorchester Collection. Our latest addition, the 121-room Hotel Eden, suits such criteria flawlessly; its landmark status, her - itage and individuality complement the style and locations of our other nine hotels in the UK, France, Switzerland, Italy and the US. It is one of the world’s most majestic and iconic hotels in a truly superb setting. Overlooking the seven hills of the Eternal City, this presence in Rome, one of the major epi - centres of classicism, creates synergies with our Hotel Principe di Savoia in Milan.

  • Boutique Hotels Segment the Challenge of Standing out from the Crowd
SEPTEMBER 2011 BOUTIQUE HOTELS SEGMENT THE CHALLENGE OF STANDING OUT FROM THE CROWD Cristina Balekjian Associate Lara Sarheim Associate Director www.hvs.com HVS – London Office| 7‐10 Chandos Street, Cavendish Square, London W1G 9DQ, UK Introduction Interest in boutique hotels, despite the relative slow down in the global economy, remains overwhelming. It is an exciting segment of the market particularly within Europe’s gateway cities. New investors are keen to enter the market and established hotel operators are fast expanding and developing new concepts to compete in this sector. With the boutique hotel market now truly established, operators have recently reported data that suggests their hotels are outperforming the competing corporate chains, especially during the recession. Developing/evolving consumer habits can help to explain this growth as guests are becoming more aware of design, expect a higher level of service, and are increasingly seeking an experience instead of a commoditised product. Guests increasingly want to feel recognised and like to feel part of a unique experience. Boutique hotels are generally accepted to be small (100 rooms appears to be the invisible boundary) and are therefore better placed to react as their limited capacity enables them to enhance the quality of service and customise their outlets. In the majority of cases, large‐scale hotels need to cater to a significant number of guests, and thus struggle to compete with the personal service afforded by a small boutique operation that can take into consideration the preference of each individual guest. Furthermore, (independent) boutique hotel owners often do not have to comply with brand standards, thus developers can more easily convert an existing building into a design led‐hotel that welcomes varying floor levels and layouts rather than having to conform to minimum room sizes and specific FF&E standards imposed by most brands.
