68Th Primetime Emmy Awards Only on Foxtel Monday September 19 from 10Am LIVE and EXCLUSIVE on FOX8 Media Release: Tuesday August 30, 2016 68th Primetime Emmy Awards Only on Foxtel Monday September 19 from 10am LIVE and EXCLUSIVE on FOX8 Foxtel’s exclusive live coverage of the of the Primetime Emmy Awards is set to continue following a renewed agreement that will see Foxtel remain the home of the prestigious awards show, and all of its glitz and glamour, for another three years. The news comes as the world is gearing up to watch the 68th Primetime Emmy Awards, hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, from The Comedy Channel’s Jimmy Kimmel Live, which will air live from the Nokia Theatre in LA on Monday September 19 from 10am (AEST) only on FOX8, with a red carpet pre-show live from 9am also on FOX8. The Awards celebrate excellence in television programming and awards top honours like the Governor’s Award and the Bob Hope Humanitarian Award. Just like in previous years, Foxtel has a host of nominated finalist programming across drama, comedy, factual and variety from popular channels including showcase, The Comedy Channel, FX, BBC First, FOX8 and Arena. Once again worldwide phenomenon Game of Thrones from HBO on Foxtel’s showcase channel leads the count with 23 nominations across multiple categories for 2016, maintaining its lead for the most nominations (drama series) in a single year. Currently, Game of Thrones holds the record for the most Emmys won by a series in a single season with 12 wins from 2015 including the win for Outstanding Drama Series. Also from Game of Thrones in 2016 are first time nominees Kit Harington and Maisie Williams for Outstanding Supporting Actor and Actress in a Drama Series respectively. Foxtel’s drama programming on showcase has also secured a host of other nominations including The Affair (first year nominated), All The Way, Black Sails, Confirmation, Game of Thrones – leading the nominations count again this year with 23, Getting On, The Knick, Penny Dreadful, Ray Donovan, True Detective, and Vinyl. Foxtel’s hit dramas The Americans, Bates Motel, Outlander, and Shameless are all nominated along with BBC First’s The Night Manager including first time nominee Tom Hiddleston for Outstanding Lead Actor in A Limited Series Or Movie, War & Peace, and Luther. Vikings and The Walking Dead have been nominated from FX, plus from Presto, Mr. Robot for season one with six nominations, including first time nominee Rami Malek for Outstanding Lead Actor In A Drama Series. Not to be outdone, The Comedy Channel also broadcasts a huge selection of Emmy nominated first-run programming including HBO’s Last Week Tonight with John Oliver with more nominations than ever before this year, and also from HBO, Silicon Valley with Thomas Middleditch’s first time nomination for Outstanding Lead Actor In A Comedy Series. These programs appear on The Comedy Channel along with the following nominated shows Inside Amy Schumer (2015 winner for Outstanding Variety Series), Jimmy Kimmel Live, Amy Schumer: Live At The Apollo, Archer, Baskets, Bob’s Burgers, Children’s Hospital, Key & Peele, Robot Chicken, and Tig Nataro: Boyish Girl Interrupted. Julia Louis-Dreyfus from HBO’s comedy series Veep on showcase holds the record for most Emmys won by a female performer at six. This year Veep is nominated across 17 categories and Julia Louis-Dreyfus – 2015 Emmy Winner for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series – is once again nominated for this award. Across its general entertainment channels, Foxtel has the following nominated programs first run: American Idol, American Ninja Warrior, The 73rd Annual Golden Globe Awards, 58th Grammy Awards, Jane The Virgin, Last Man Standing, and Vice all on FOX8; and Project Runway and RuPaul’s Drag Race both on Arena.     March 29, 2020 Rev.Jane Florence Title: Passing Through Difficulties Text: Psalm 91 So, I binged watched a season of Naked and Afraid XL yesterday. If you don’t know the show, it’s going to sound really weird. It’s on the Discovery Channel, so I’m sure I was watching something much more sophisticated when I came upon it. Anyway, in regular seasons two people- a male and female- total strangers are taken out to some beautifully horrible remote spot on the globe where they shed their clothes and attempt to survive naked and afraid for 20 days. Jungles, deserts, swamps with deadly wildlife, poisonous insects, and venomous snakes; they face dehydration, starvation and everything imaginable to test their determination to survive both physically and emotionally in total vulnerability while being filmed for tv. I feel a little like we’ve all been dropped into a new version of Naked and Afraid these weeks. We have clothes on - sweatpants and pajamas are now ‘office’ attire. We have basic needs: food, water and toilet paper- and there’s not a scorpion crawling up our leg at night, but our souls are NAKED and afraid none the less. Our spirits are stripped bare and vulnerable as we have no control of our days and our emotions can spring upon us - like a cougar out of no where. Any moment disbelief, fear or grief can catch us off guard. So when panic tries to snatch our heartbeat and fear wants to drive, I grabbed for The Book of JOY. His Holiness the Dalai Lama and Archbishop Desmond Tutu collaborated with writer Douglas Abrams to produce The Book of Joy: Lasting Happiness in a Changing World.
