Some citizens have com- plained about iron in their water, sometimes staining laundry and fixtures; while others have complained about the smell. Other citizens have encountered no problems. Monday’s work session is scheduled for 4 p.m. in the Women’s Club Room on the second floor of the Memorial Building. Several citizens complained about the city’s water at the commission’s June 24 meeting, as reported in the Daily Globe. Commissioner Jim Mil- dren told the assembly he asked a lot of people and not one of them like the discol- ored water right after the city flushes its lines. David Ward, of South Curry Street, questioned Mil- dren’s statement. Ward said his water makes his house smell like chlorine. At the meeting, Mayor Annette Burchell suggested citizens call the city’s water Tom LaVenture/Daily Globe department about any water CHILDREN LINE up to knock the pins down as fast as the volunteers can stand them up during the sidewalk bowling activity Wednes- quality issues. day, as part of the pre-Fourth of July events on Sophie Street in downtown Bessemer.
