ABSTRACT Based on examination of the syntype female of Telagrion fulvellum which we desig nate as lectotype, and its comparison with additional male and female specimens from Peru, this species is assigned to a new genus, Dolonagrion, and both sexes are redescribed, diagnosed, and illustrated. RESUMEN Sabre la base del examen del sintipo hembra de Telagrion fulvellum, el cual desig namos como lectotipo, y su comparaci6n con ejemplares adicionales machos y hem bras de Peru, esta especie es asignada a un nuevo genera, Dolonagrion, y ambos sexos son redescriptos, diagnosticados e ilustrados. INTRODUCTION Generic recognition of neotropical components within Coenagrionidae is difficult due to vague and often inadequate descriptions and lack of illustrations. The identi ties of several poorly-known taxa, mostly described by Selys (1876, 1877), have recently been analyzed (De Marmels & Garrison 2005; De Marmels 2007; von Ellen rieder & Garrison 2007, 2008; von Ellenrieder 2008; von Ellenrieder & Lozano 2008). Here we address the identity of Telagrion fulvellum Selys, 1876. Selys (1876) described T. fulvellum based on a male from 'Peba' (Upper Amazon) and a female from Para, Brazil. -

The precise systematic position of this species within the former Neotropical Protoneuridae has been the subject of debate, with previous results from a phyloge- netic analysis based on morphology suggesting that the genus Microneura should be placed within the genus Protoneura. Here, we used mitochondrial and nuclear DNA sequencing to disentangle the taxo- nomic status of this species. Our results show that Microneura belongs to the Protoneura clade, thus making Microneura a junior synonym of Protoneura. Finally, we provide notes on some observations of emergence and ovipositing behaviour of this species. -

The larva of E. media can be distinguished from other species of Erythrodiplax by the presence of lateral spines on S8 and S9, the number of premental setae (n = 22), palpal setae (n = 7) and by the mandibular formula. We also provide a preliminary key to known South American larvae in the genus. Keywords: Brazil; coastal wetlands; dragonfly; exuvia; Anisoptera Introduction Erythrodiplax Brauer, 1868 is an American genus that includes 60 species (Schorr & Paulson, 2017), of which 40 are known to occur in Brazil (Pinto, 2017) and 18 are hitherto reported from the state of Rio Grande do Sul (Consatti, Santos, Renner & Périco, 2014;Costa,1971; Hanauer, Renner & Périco, 2014; Kittel & Engels, 2016; Renner, Périco & Sahlén, 2013, 2016; Renner, Périco, Sahlén, Santos & Consatti, 2015; Teixeira, 1971). The genus consists of many rather similar species, which makes diagnosis difficult. -
The Phylogeny of the Zygopterous Dragonflies As Based on The
THE PHYLOGENY OF THE ZYGOPTEROUS DRAGON- FLIES AS BASED ON THE EVIDENCE OF THE PENES* CLARENCE HAMILTON KENNEDY, Ohio State University. This paper is merely the briefest outline of the writer's discoveries with regard to the inter-relationship of the major groups of the Zygoptera, a full account of which will appear in his thesis on the subject. Three papers1 by the writer discussing the value of this organ in classification of the Odonata have already been published. At the beginning, this study of the Zygoptera was viewed as an undertaking to define the various genera more exactly. The writer in no wise questioned the validity of the Selysian concep- tion that placed the Zygopterous subfamilies in series with the richly veined '' Calopterygines'' as primitive and the Pro- toneurinae as the latest and final reduction of venation. However, following Munz2 for the Agrioninae the writer was able to pick out here and there series of genera where the devel- opment was undoubtedly from a thinly veined wing to one richly veined, i. e., Megalagrion of Hawaii, the Argia series, Leptagrion, etc. These discoveries broke down the prejudice in the writer's mind for the irreversibility of evolution in the reduction of venation in the Odonata orders as a whole. Undoubt- ably in the Zygoptera many instances occur where a richly veined wing is merely the response to the necessity of greater wing area to support a larger body. As the study progressed the writer found almost invariably that generalized or connecting forms were usually sparsely veined as compared to their relatives. -

A. 7495, Bogotá - Colombia; Correo electrónico: [email protected] RESUMEN Se provee un listado de los géneros y especies de Anisoptera (Insecta: Odonata) depositados en la colección entomológica del Instituto de Ciencias Naturales de la Universidad Nacional de Colombia, sede Bogotá. Esta colección posee 2900 especímenes de Odonata recolectados desde 1940 en 27 departamentos del país. El 53% de los especímenes pertenece al suborden Anisoptera, representado por tres familias, Aeshnidae, Gomphidae y Libellulidae, 38 géneros y 91 especies; que constituyen el 80% de géneros y especies reportadas para el sub- orden en Colombia. Los géneros mejor representados en la colección son Erythrodiplax (37%), Uracis (15%) y Erythemis (8%). Se confirma la presencia en Colombia de Uracis siemensi Kirby, 1897, U. infumata (Ram- bur, 1842) y Zenithoptera viola Ris, 1910. Palabras clave: Odonata, libélula, Anisoptera, Neotrópico. SUMMARY A list of genera and species of Anisoptera (Insecta: Odonata) deposited in the entomology collection of the Instituto de Ciencias Naturales, Universidad Nacional de Colombia in Bogotá is given. This collection holds 2900 specimens of Odonata which have been collected since 1940 across 27 departments of the country. More than a half of the specimens are Anisoptera (53%) and these are represented by three families Aeshnidae, Gomphidae, and Libellulidae, 38 genera and 91 species. These numbers constitute 80% of the genera and species of the suborder reported from Colombia. -

Neoneura, Species, Neoneura Jurzitzai

Later, SELYS (1886) expanded the ge- nus to include eight species, of which four were new. CALVERT (1903, 1907) described three species (N. aaroni, N. amelia, and N. paya) from southern Texas, Mexico, and Central America. WILLIAMSON (1917), in his seminal revision monographed all known species, described six new species, and included diagnos- tic illustrationsof all known species. It is the only paper which attempted to key all work is valuable for Williamson’s species. Besides the illustrations, the attempt to determine the identity of some of the poorly known Selysian species. Although Williamsonkeyed the males for all species, he did not have material ofN. rufilhorax Selys or N. waltheri Selys. At about the same time, KENNEDY (1917) illustrated the penes of all known species.
