Powerlifting Champ! Congratulations to Tomás Cuddihy, a ma- ture student studying Visual Communica- tions in CIT, who became a Powerlifting world champion in November. Tomás competed at the World Drug Free Power- lifting Federation’s (WDFPF) World cham- pionships held at the Craigholme Sports Complex in Glasgow, Scotland. He won his age and weight category (masters two, 125kg division) with a 215kg squat, 142.5kg bench press and a 220kg deadlift setting two Irish records in the process. Not bad for a 48 year old. More impres- sive when revealed that in 2013 Tomás tore his pectoral muscle from the bone and was told after surgery that he would never compete again. The road back to glory was an arduous one. For those who are interested Tomás com- petes with the Irish Drug Free Powerlift- ing Federation (IDFPF) who are affiliated to the WDFPF. The WDFPF has the most f stringent drug testing policy of any world federation. www.idfpf.com f 18 d f WIN €30! Sponsored by http://societies.cit.ie f d Just for fun... f
