Audra Sellers Maui Police Department Lanai Update • Lanai’s confirmed cases remain at 106, and the island has had no new cases for more than 10 days • Lanai’s “Safer at Home” rule expires Nov. 30, and the County is considering moving to “Act with Care” for the island Lanai Update • We remain cautious, continue testing and maintain monitoring with our partners, including the State Department of Health, Straub Lanai, Lanai Community Health Clinic, Lanai Community Hospital and the Maui Police Department Lanai Community Meeting • There will be NO Lanai Community Meeting today. • The next Lanai Community Meeting with Sen. J. Kalani English, Rep. Lynn DeCoite and Mayor Victorino will be held next Wednesday, Dec. 2, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Safe Travels Update • Gov. David Ige’s 16th Emergency Proclamation requires that all transpacific travelers must have a negative COVID-19 test result from a Trusted Partner before their departure for the State of Hawaii, in order to bypass the 14-day quarantine Safe Travels Update • The new policy began on Tuesday to protect the health and safety of our residents and visitors • Travelers’ negative test results need to be uploaded to the Safe Travels system prior to departure • Travelers also may present a hard copy of their negative test result to government officials upon arrival in Hawaii Safe Travels Update • We recommend travelers bring a hard copy of their negative result as a backup, even if they upload it to the Safe Travels system • The state Department of Transportation reported that some travelers without negative results opted not to fly and wait until they have negative test results prior to departure • Policy change does not affect inter-county travelers Safe Travels Update Website: hawaiicovid19.com/travel/ FAQs: hawaiicovid19.com/travel/faqs/ Email: [email protected] Call Center: 1-800-GO-HAWAII Waiver of Maui County convenience fees extended • The County of Maui is extending its waiver of credit card convenience fees and transaction fees for County bills until Dec. 31, 2020, to help people impacted by COVID-19 • This extension encourages physical distancing by providing for cashless transactions and payments of bills online Waiver of Maui County convenience fees extended • The waiver of credit card convenience fees includes online payments for: • Solid waste, refuse and water/sewer bills • Vehicle registration renewals paid online or at self-service kiosks Molokai food distribution held today • A food distribution event was held today at the Mitchell Pauole Center for Molokai residents in need • Volunteers passed out 150 boxes of produce on a first-come, first-served basis • Mahalo to everyone who helped make the event possible, including Molokai Community Liaison Stacy Crivello Thanksgiving vouchers sent to Molokai, Lanai • In lieu of a Thanksgiving and turkey box, vouchers have been sent to Molokai and Lanai residents who have received COVID-19-related assistance through the County of Maui Hawaii Emergency Laulima Partnership program • Molokai residents with vouchers picked up gift certificates on Tuesday and today. The certificates are for Friendly Market, Kualapuu Market and Misaki’s Thanksgiving vouchers sent to Molokai, Lanai • Lanai residents with vouchers can pick up their gift certificates on Monday, Nov. 30, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Lanai Council Office. • The Thanksgiving giveaway program is provided by the County of Maui in partnership with Maui Economic Opportunity Inc. MEO has administered the HELP program Surge testing ongoing in Kihei • Free drive-through COVID-19 testing was held today at the South Maui Community Park in Kihei, and testing will continue at the same location (1501 Liloa Drive) from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 28 • This test is a self-administered nasal swab • All clients must pre-register online and get a printed voucher • The printed voucher must be presented with an ID at the designated test time and date Surge testing ongoing in Kihei • This surge testing is being done in partnership with the Maui Emergency Management Agency, the Office of the Mayor and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services • For information and to register for testing Saturday in Kihei, go to eTrueNorth.com; the registration link is doineedacovid19test.com • NOTE: This surge testing event is NOT being done with partner Minit Medical Urgent Care Ongoing voluntary post-travel and community testing • The County of Maui is offering free post-travel testing for returning residents and visitors • So far, there’s been more than 4,200 individuals tested and over two dozen positive test results • Mahalo to Minit Medical for partnering with Maui County on these programs Ongoing voluntary post-travel and community testing • The County of Maui is working with Minit Medical to offer free, ongoing COVID-19 testing at locations in Lahaina, Kihei and Kahului • All participants must pre-register by visiting www.minitmed.com/pre-register-maui-covid-19 • We ask people who decide to cancel their appointments to be courteous and cancel online or call Minit Med to inform them that they will not make their appointment. This allows Minit Med to open a time slot for another participant Ongoing voluntary post-travel and community testing • If you have any problem pre-registering, please call (808) 667-6161 ext: 7, for help and more information • Residents do not need to have insurance or meet any criteria to get tested for free. • Results will be reported to participants on the same day as testing. • NOTE: The free testing cannot be used for the State’s Pre- Travel Testing Program Blood Bank of Hawaii donations • The Blood Bank of Hawaii recently completed three days of blood donations on Maui • Blood is direly needed, and we send out a big mahalo to everyone who stepped up to make a blood donation Blood Bank of Hawaii donations • Some statistics from Maui blood drive: • From Sunday through Tuesday, there were: • 434 registered donors • 397 collected units of blood • On Sunday and Monday, there were 47 first- time donors and 89 Type O donors (rare) • The Blood Bank will return to seek donations in February-March Mask Wearing Campaign • We want to remind everyone that wearing of face masks or facial coverings is mandatory to limit the spread of COVID-19 in our community. • Face masks are mandatory for anyone over 5 years old when in public in Maui County. • Anyone who refuses to wear a mask is in violation of the County’s Public Health Emergency Rules and may be subject to fines of up to $5,000 and one year in jail. Mask Wearing Campaign Thanksgiving precautions • For Thanksgiving events, we strongly recommend: • Consider meeting virtually online with family and friends • Wear a face mask or facial covering when not eating or drinking • Observe physical distancing of at least 6 feet, preferably 10 feet • Hold celebrations outdoors and make sure indoor activities are well ventilated with air from outside November 25, 2020.
