(Labour) Affluence Map 2: Ward Location The ward is generally very affluent area. The overall population is middle-aged and young, single, healthy and skilled. A high proportion of the population work in well paid professional jobs mainly in scientific and technical or financial and insurance activity sectors. • 74% of residents are of working age. The structure of the population has slightly changed over the last seven years which demonstrates that the population is not as transient as over the previous two decades • Foreign-born residents made up 52% of the ward population. A high proportion were born in France, Republic of Ireland, Australia, Iran and Italy • The ward has the highest proportion of households that have no people who speak English as a first language Pockets of Deprivation • 86% of residents declared themselves in good or very good health Even though the ward is generally affluent there still exists a number of deprived areas particularly Lytton estate, • Two in five people aged 16+ were living as a couple; Springvale estate and Linacre Court which suffer from this is similar to the borough average multiple interlinked problems. -

Health & Learning & Well-being Training Friends of Barnes Common (“FoBC”) has operated on and from the Vine Road Recreation Ground (the park) for over seven years. We have used this time to assess existing uses and opportunities: the park is clearly much loved, underutilised and run down in parts. From discussion Sustainable and observation there are several opportunities to better serve the community’s needs and improve wellbeing. Respectful FoBC is a community-based organisation and registered charity. Our Vision embraces Conservation, Biodiversity, Wellbeing and Lifelong Local Learning. Our Mission is to use our custodianship of local open Natural & spaces to inspire the Community to be engaged, to encourage Biodiverse & Vine Road Community Eco- Design participation and ‘ownership’ to build resilience and leadership and Hub Gateway respect the environment for present and future generations. We believe the Vine Road Project offers enormous scope to put our Organic Vision and Mission into practice. Environmentally Friendly At this stage we have undertaken research and, with respected professional help, prepared ideas for the Community to consider. Working Following this consultation feedback will then be fed into a Master Together Plan proposal which we will present to Richmond Council for its approval. Bridge Between Inclusive & People & Nature Accessible for All Key Milestones To Date: Ages 2019 Community Funding obtained - for project appraisal and initial design. Nov 2019 Initial soft consultation– just pre-lockdown Dec 2020 Lead Architects appointed - following public tender Feb-May 2021: Additional funding acquired to make some small immediate improvements, test ideas and help fund public consultations and Master Plan: Magnificent response! Over £13,000 raised from community, with £13,000 pledge from London Mayor’s Resilience Fund.
