INTERNATIONAL 3rd ANNUAL WRR YOUNG ARTIST CHAMBER MUSIC COMPETITION

For twenty years CHAMBER MUSIC INTERNATIONAL has enriched North Texas with impeccable performances of the world’s most enduring classical music played by its most acclaimed virtuosos. Our standards are high Chamber because we know that chamber music is the heartbeat of a career in classical music. • Chamber Music International is delighted to invite all young classical musicians to participate in this competition devoted exclusively to the Music performance of chamber music. In addition to the prizes, top winners will INTERNATIONAL perform at the beautiful Eisemann Center for the Performing Arts in Richardson, Texas. $2,000 $500 1ST COLLEGE 2ND COLLEGE $1,000 $300 AWARDS PRIZE PRIZE HIGH SCHOOL HIGH SCHOOL 1. The competition will be open to any of the following: , String , String , , , , , Reed Trio, & . The competition preliminaries will be by tape with the application postmarked no later than March 25, 2006. The competition finals will take place on April 9, 2006 in Dallas, Texas from 1-6 PM at the Hockaday School in Dallas. The competition will have a College and High School Division.

2. The College Division is open to chamber music groups of all nationalities whose members are below the age of 31 (as of March 15, 2006) and enrolled as full-time students in colleges or universities located in the following States: Arkansas, Colorado, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas. The High School Division is open to chamber music groups of all nationalities currently in grades 9-12 and residing in the following States: Arkansas, Colorado, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas. Home- schooled students are eligible. The members of a group do not need to be enrolled in the same school.

3. The College Division repertoire is as follows: One compete and original work from the Classical, Romantic, Post Romantic or Impressionistic Periods. At least two movements from a second work from a different period, but still limited to the Classical, Romantic, Post Romantic or Impressionistic Periods. The taped, preliminary requirement is one movement from each work (15 minutes minimum).

The High School Division repertoire is as follows: One complete and original work from the Classical, Romantic or Impressionistic Periods. The taped, preliminary requirement is ten minutes of music from your prepared work.

4. The taped portion (included with the application) should be of high quality, and may be submitted by CD, DVD or cassette. The recording should be made in real time and not edited or altered.

5. Groups invited to the finals on April 9 will be expected to make their own travel arrangements and all expenses will be the responsibility of each group.

6. First Prize winners from both the College and High School Divisions are required to appear and perform on April 30, 2006, 1:30 PM, the Eisemann Center for the Performing Arts in Richardson. Failure to appear and perform for any reason will result in disqualification and forfeiture of any cash awards. Second Prize winners are welcome but not required to be present to receive their awards on that evening.

7. First Prize winners who reside more than 100 miles from the concert site will be eligible to receive free housing for the night of April 30, 2006.

8. First Prize winners who reside more than 100 miles from the concert site will be eligible to receive a $50 travel stipend for the April 30 concert at the Eisemann Center for the Performing Arts.

9. The decisions of the competition judges shall be final, and no correspondence shall be entered into regarding those decisions.
