In the novels, she is a prominent point of view character. She is one of the most popular characters in the series, and The New York Times cites her as one of the author's finest creations. Introduced in 's A Game of ThronesDaenerys is one of the last surviving members along with her older brother, Viserys of House Targaryenwho, until fourteen years before the events of the first novel, had ruled Westeros from the Iron Queen of Dragons for nearly three hundred years prior to being ousted. Daenerys was one of a few prominent characters not included in 's A Feast for Crowsbut returned in the next novel A Dance with Dragons In the story, Daenerys is a woman in her early teens living in Essos. Knowing no other life than one of exile, she remains dependent Queen of Dragons her abusive older brother, Viserys. She is forced to marry Dothraki horselord Khal Drogo in exchange for an army for Viserys, who wishes to return to Westeros and recapture the Iron Throne. Her brother loses the ability to control her as Daenerys finds herself adapting to life with the khalasar. Her character emerges as strong, confident and courageous. She Queen of Dragons the heir of the Targaryen dynasty after her brother's Queen of Dragons and plans to reclaim the Iron Throne herself, seeing it as her birthright. A pregnant Daenerys loses her husband and child, but soon helps to hatch three dragons from their eggs. The dragons regard her as Queen of Dragons mother, providing Queen of Dragons with a tactical advantage and prestige. Over time, she struggles to maintain control of her dragons. She also acquires an army with which she conquers the cities of YunkaiAstapor and Meereendetermined to end slavery and injustice there. Despite her strong moral compass, she is capable of dealing ruthlessly with her enemies, particularly the slave masters. She establishes herself as a powerful and relentless ruler. Her character Queen of Dragons from heroic to villainous at the end of the series has been a source of controversy for both critics and fans. She has also earned many other nominations and accolades for her portrayal. Thirteen years before the events of the series 16 years in the television seriesafter her father and eldest brother Rhaegar were killed during Robert's Rebellion, Queen of Dragons was born in the midst of a great storm, earning her the nickname "Stormborn". Darry died when Daenerys was five years old, and she and Viserys spent the following years wandering the Free Cities. Game of Thrones creators D. Daenerys grew up in constant fear of being discovered and killed by Queen of Dragons of the Usurper King, Robert Baratheonand was frequently abused by her older brother Viseryswhich led to her developing a fearful, submissive, and furtive nature. However, over the course of the narrative Daenerys comes to find her inner strength and courage and emerges as a natural leader who is adored by her people. Although she is initially terrified of Drogo, Daenerys's and Drogo's marriage grows into a happy union. She comes to love him and to take to Dothraki customs, finding strength Queen of Dragons the first time, whereupon Daenerys stands up to Viserys's attempts to bully her into coercing Drogo. When Viserys threatens Daenerys, Drogo kills Viserys by pouring molten gold over his head. With Viserys's death, Daenerys sees herself Queen of Dragons the heir to the Targaryen dynasty and responsible for Queen of Dragons the throne for her family. Later, Drogo is wounded in a fight, and the cut festers. With Drogo ill, his warriors mutiny and abandon him. Queen of Dragons, despite being saved by Daenerys from being raped by the tribe's warriors, the priestess betrays Daenerys and the magic ritual results in Daenerys's unborn child being stillborn and leaves Drogo in a catatonic state. Because Drogo will never recover, Daenerys euthanizes him with a pillow. She burns the priestess in Drogo's funeral pyre and climbs into the flames with her three dragon eggs. When the pyre dies out the following morning, Daenerys emerges alive and unburnt from the ashes with three hatched dragons. Leading the remnants of Drogo's khalasar through the Red Waste, Daenerys arrives in the city of Qarth. There, she begins appealing to the rulers of the city for aid in reclaiming the Iron Throne but is unsuccessful. Daenerys eventually accepts an invitation from a group of warlocks to discover her future. At the warlocks' temple, the House of the Undying, Daenerys drinks a magical potion and enters the temple. Inside, she sees several visions and manages to resist the temptations. When Daenerys enters the final hall and meets the real Undyings, she is told prophecies about her destiny as the "child of three" who will experience "three fires must you light", "three mounts must you ride", and "three treasons will you know"; they also tell her she is the "daughter Queen of Dragons death", the "slayer of lies", and the "bride of fire". When the Undyings attack Daenerys and intend to hold her prisoner, Daenerys's dragon Drogon kills them and burns down the temple, allowing Daenerys to escape. Before departing Qarth, Daenerys is nearly assassinated with a venomous manticore. She is saved by Arstan Whitebeardwho is sent by Illyrio Morpatis, along with the eunuch ex-gladiator called Strong Belwas and three ships to take Daenerys back to Pentos. She negotiates with Kraznys mo Nakloz, promising a dragon in payment, but Queen of Dragons betrays the Good Masters and commands the Unsullied to kill the slavers. Daenerys frees Queen of Dragons Unsullied and the slaves. She later conquers the city of Yunkai and gains the service of Daario Naharis, who commands a large mercenary company. As Daenerys marches on Meereenshe learns that one of her companions is Barristan Selmy Queen of Dragons, a knight of Robert the Usurper 's Kingsguard, while Jorah previously informed on her. Disgusted, she sends the pair on a suicide mission to capture Meereen. When the mission is Queen of Dragons, Barristan asks to be Queen of Dragons for his deception, but Jorah refuses to ask forgiveness so Daenerys banishes him. Unwilling to abandon the slaves she freed, Daenerys decides to stay in Meereen as she fears they will Queen of Dragons to bondage. Throughout A Dance with DragonsDaenerys struggles to maintain order in the city in the face of growing unrest as well as the chaos she left Queen of Dragons in the other Queen of Dragons she conquered. Furthermore, Yunkai has rebelled and is gathering forces to Queen of Dragons Meereen. When Drogon kills a child, Daenerys feels compelled to chain her dragons Rhaegal and Viserion, but Drogon Queen of Dragons. Her advisers suggest she marry Hizdahr zo Loraq to bring peace, and she agrees, although she takes Daario as a lover. Hizdahr successfully negotiates an end to the violence and Daenerys marries him. At her wedding feast, the blood and noise of the fighting pits attract Drogon, who is immediately attacked. Initially, Daenerys's attempt to control her dragon fail but she manages to climb atop of Drogon, who flies off with her. After several days in Drogon's lair, Daenerys becomes ill from some berries and begins to hallucinate. She is later found by Khal Jhaqo, formerly a captain of her Khalasar who betrayed her late husband. Martin said that the character was portrayed as older in the television series than her literary counterpart because of child pornography laws. Clarke said that the role of Daenerys was "not your typical bonnet duty that you have to go through as a young British actress". She's a very Joan of Arc -style character. In OctoberClarke and several other key cast members, all contracted for six seasons of the series, renegotiated their deals to include a potential seventh season and salary increases for Queen of Dragons five, six, and seven. Queen of Dragons Targaryen is introduced as the exiled princess of the Targaryen dynasty. She and her brother Viserys were smuggled to Queen of Dragons during the end of Robert's Rebellion. For most Queen of Dragons her life, Daenerys has been under the care of Viserys, whom she fears, as he is abusive to her whenever she displeases him. Viserys marries Daenerys to the powerful Dothraki warlord Khal Drogo in exchange for his military support to retake the Iron Throne. Daenerys becomes a khaleesi. During the wedding, exiled knight Ser Jorah Mormont pledges his loyalty to Daenerys while her benefactor Illyrio Mopatis gifts her three petrified dragon eggs. Daenerys is initially afraid of her new husband but after learning the Dothraki language, she begins to bond with Drogo and genuinely falls in love with him. Daenerys learns the ways of the Dothraki, strengthening her relationship with her khalasar. She later becomes pregnant with her son by Drogo, who is prophesied by the Dothraki to be the "Stallion Who Mounts the World".

Third, I have aimed at preserving the peculiar mode, the aroma of the poet’s style, so far as I could do it without offence to the translating English. Fourth, both rhythm and rime being essential elements of every poem in which they are used, I have sought to respect them rigorously. Fifth, spirit, matter, and form truly represented, the more literal the translation the more satisfactory will be the result. After all, translation is but a continuous effort after the impossible. There is in it a general difficulty whose root has a thousand ramifications, the whole affair being but an accommodation of difficulties, and a perfect translation from one language into another is a thing that cannot be effected. One is tempted even to say that in the whole range of speech there is no such thing as a synonym.

The Starks fight the Lannisters, the Baratheons fight each other." ―Daenerys Targaryen to Ser Jorah Mormont The War of the Five Kings was a major civil war in the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros that erupted in the wake of the death of King Robert I. In essence, the war was a three-way battle for the Iron Throne fought alongside two independence movements. The five kings in question were Robert's heir apparent, Joffrey Baratheon, Robert's two younger brothers, Stannis and Renly Baratheon, the "King in the North" Robb Stark, and the "King of the Iron Islands" Balon Greyjoy. Upon Robert Baratheon's death, his heir apparent, Prince Joffrey Baratheon, takes the Iron Throne. However, the revelation that he, along with his brother and sister, are bastards born of incest between Queen Consort Cersei and her twin brother, Ser Jaime Lannister, leads both of Robert's younger brothers, Stannis and Renly Baratheon, to claim the throne for themselves. Stannis sees himself as the rightful heir by right of blood, being Robert's heir with the removal of Joffrey, Myrcella, and Tommen from the line of succession, due to them being bastards born of incest. Renly claims the throne on the basis that he would be a better king, despite being second to Stannis in the lawful line of succession. Meanwhile, Robb Stark, the Lord of Winterfell, is declared the King in the North by his bannermen in the wake of the execution of his father, Eddard Stark, on false charges of treason by Joffrey.
