So in the end, well, I wasnt expecting something groundbreaking from an indie platformer, I just installed , got what I wanted and uninstalled it. (Achievments).. Smelly Cheese Trash. This game is so bad. If you bought this, then refund it fast. Too short and easy, so you can get all achievements. It says "Trading Cards" but not.. funny platformer game where you are a mouse overcoming obstacles to get a piece of tasty cheese. after you gather all the cheese next level gate opens and you have to proceed there. level after level game becomes more and more complicated with more and more obstacles and enemies. great for a casual gameplay and cheap enough.. Trash platformer - No sounds effect or music in the backround - Broken Achievements - physics 2/10. +Can be a good addition for Achievment Hunters and Perfect Game Collectors (such as myself). -The BIG dissapointment is that is HAS NO trading cards, even if the Store Page tells you otherwise, - From the game mechanics , The Mouse is moving as if it ''slides'' can't make a short stop which can be pretty annoying while jumping at the moving platforms. So in the end, well, I wasnt expecting something groundbreaking from an indie platformer, I just installed , got what I wanted and uninstalled it. (Achievments).. It's a fun game, reminds me a bit of transformice. Sadly the achievements don't work.. Thats actually pretty good.. Feels like someones first attempt at a platformer. Only reason to buy this is for an easy Perfect game. Can't find any cards that it claims to have.. The Brave Mouse is a platform game, with nicely-drawn graphics and twelve levels. You jump from platform to platform (some of which are in motion), grabbing pieces of cheese (three per level), whilst avoiding spears, wasps, and fires. Whilst I quite liked the graphics, I found the gameplay rather frustrating. Some of the jumps to moving platforms had to be very carefully timed, or guessed at, added to which you have to avoid various traps - and a slight mistake may mean you have to start the whole process all over again. I had to do some levels again and again and again, until I just got really annoyed - that probably means that my skill level wasn't good enough, but it also means that my annoyance level was increased until I stopped enjoying the game. When you die, it would have been good to be able to start from the last spot you were at - but that's not what happens, so I guess that's just the nature of the beast. Since I bought The Brave Mouse at a special price, the cost wasn't a problem - its usual price on Steam is only $2 anyway. However, the problem was the lack of enjoyment that I got from this game. It's a shame that I didn't like the gameplay, because I quite liked the artwork in The Brave Mouse. For those who like platform games, and are good at them, this may be worth buying, but I don't think I can recommend a game which I found to be so annoying. 4/10. FILM 1/30e No.1 The Exhibition of Mr. Mukuo Takamura Mukuo at his Studio (Photo:T.Namiki) The retrospective exhibition of Mr. Takamura Mukuo, who had passed away 3 year ago, was held at the Museum in Machida. This April under the auspices of his family. He the leading person in background painters of Japanese animation field produced numerous wonderful works. Though they offered free- entrance, it was rich in content. There were more than 100 background paintings drawn by him, from his early works such as "Marco", "Gosch, the Cellist", "The Dagger of Kamui", to his posthumous works like "Sailor Moon". They gave us the full picture of his career as a background designer for 30 years. They were enough to remind almost 600 fans, who visited exhibition at his talent. Mr. Mukuo first helped ANIDO directlywith the article on "Marco" in FILM 1/24, No. 23. The background of "Gosch, the Cellist" most of which were was so great that I can never forget that drawn by him. During its production, I worked as an animator. Even after that, I took a part in advertisement. He helped us a lot, like making a guest appearance when we held screenings, joining the discussion for the animation magazine, drawing background of the pictures for badges and other goods, and so on. It's very sad to say Mr. Mukuo had already passed away. But I believe that we, people in Japanese animation field, will never forget his earnest attitude toward creation. ANIDO is now planning to publish the book of his wonderful works.

  • An Analysis of Clothing in Disney Cartoons
"I Might be a Duck, but I'm Human": An Analysis of Clothing in Disney Cartoons Luke Baldwin Dubin JAMES A GIBSON LIBRARY BROCK UNIVERSiTY , r'"i I~" YES' < ' ¥-"'J; ''<'11 r ST.• CJ\THAR,.. ...... ..!. v ,t_#.", ~ Thesis completed in partial fulfillment of the requirements of the Interdisciplinary MA Program in Popular Culture Brock University © 2008 Dubin i Abstract Mickey Mouse, one of the world's most recognizable cartoon characters, did not wear a shirt in his earliest incarnation in theatrical shorts and, for many years, Donald Duck did not wear pants and still rarely does so. Especially when one considers the era in which these figures were first created by the Walt Disney Studio, in the 1920s and 1930s, why are they portrayed without full clothing? The obvious answer, of course, is that they are animals, and animals do not wear clothes. But these are no ordinary animals: in most cases, they do wear clothing - some clothing, at least - and they walk on two legs, talk in a more or less intelligible fashion, and display a number of other anthropomorphic traits. If they are essentially animals, why do they wear clothing at all? On the other hand, if these characters are more human than animal, as suggested by other behavioral traits - they walk, talk, work, read, and so on - why are they not more often fully clothed? To answer these questions I undertook three major research strategies used to gather evidence: interpretive textual analysis of 321 cartoons; secondary analysis of interviews conducted with the animators who created the Disney characters; and historical and archival research on the Disney Company and on the times and context in which it functioned.
