2019 (February) – Present: Professor (Full) of Economics (Sol Plaatje University, South Africa). Appointed full professor in Economics, School of Economic and Management Sciences at Sol Plaatje University as from 1st February 2019. 2018 (August) – present: Independent Consultant, Senior Research Fellow (Stellenbosch University) and Research Fellow (Partnership for Economic Policy (PEP). I am currently an independent consultant with 2 internationally funded projects. The first is where I serve as Senior Advisor to the Forum of Federations (Canada) on a project for the Ethiopian Government to reform their concurrent revenue sharing formula. The second, under the auspices of IFPRI focuses on priority investments defined for each country to analyze the likelihood of selected country national agricultural investment plans (NAIPs) to achieve Malabo targets, selected Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Agenda 2063. It is being done for countries in West Africa and selected countries in East Africa (Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda) and Southern Africa (Zambia, Zimbabwe. Lesotho, Namibia and eSwatini). I am also a Senior Research Fellow at the Economics Department, University of Stellenbosch where I give seminars, guest lectures and co-supervise graduate students. In 2020 I was appointed a Research Fellow at Partnership for Economic Policy (PEP), a worldwide leading economic capacity building and policy analysis network focusing on developing countries. 2008 (July) – 2018 (July) Research and Recommendations Program Head (Government Level 15), Financial and Fiscal Commission. Until July 2018, I was Head of Research and Policy at the Financial and Fiscal Commission in South Africa, where I headed the Research and Recommendations division. Apart from being responsible for the smooth financial running of the division, I also worked on research projects, mentoring and fund raising. I was overall responsible for research strategy and policy, management of research outputs and deliverables, preparation of annual submission document, MTBPS response, Fiscal Frameworks and Appropriations Response, DoR Bill response, academic leadership, budget planning and monitoring, management of research managers (Level 13+) and research staff (Level 11-12+), enterprise content management and development and maintenance of a functional record keeping system for the division. 2006- 2008 Manager: Macroeconomics and Public Finance Unit, Financial and Fiscal Commission, South Africa. I was asked to serve as external examiner on an Mphil thesis from the University of Zimbabwe (2004) and two MSc thesis from Bunda College, University of Malawi (2003, 2004). 6. 10.2 Involvement with curriculum development

1. I was Team Leader of a group that designed the Environmental Economics Course Syllabi for the Agricultural Economics Education Board 2. I have served as a course specialist in Production Economics for the Africa wide Agricultural Economics Education Board 3. I was a member of a team that re-designed the core courses (Macroeconomics, Microeconomics and Quantitative Methods) of the African Economic Research Consortium. 4. I was a member of a team under the leadership of Prof R. Hassan that designed the Environmental Economics Specialisation courses for the MSc Environmental Economics, CRMP, University of Pretoria. I subsequently became Team Leader of this group. 5. I introduced a course in Environmental Economics and Policy Modelling at the University of Zimbabwe. I was also a participant in a small group that revised and revamped the undergraduate and Masters degree programmes there starting in 1998.

I was a member of the Editorial Board of Environment and Development Economics Journal published by Cambridge University Press (2009-2012). I have served and continue serving as a referee/reviewer for several international and domestic journals including Environment and Development Economics, Development Southern Africa, Energy Policy, World Development, Economic Modelling, Journal of African Economies, Conservation Biology, Journal of International Development, African Development Review and Journal of Development Economics.
