Summer 2020 | Kent County Levy Court 7 TMYK (The More You Know) about Fats, Oil and Grease HELPS PROTECT COSTLY SEWER REPAIRS FOG and its effects on sewer systems is increasingly becoming an alarming concern for municipalities and has always been a concern for operators and owners of wastewater infrastructure. FOG stands for fats, oil and grease associated with cooking, which under any cir- cumstances should not be poured into a drain or flushed into a sewer system. While these contaminants may be- gin as liquid from your residence, they eventually solidify and will cause problems - - if not at your residence, your neighbor’s, a mile down the road or even at your local Wastewater Treatment Facility.
