Goodall was a striking figure, hand-picked in her twenties by groundbreak- ing paleontologist Louis Leakey for her love of animals, her appetite for adventure, and her patience. Photographer and filmmaker Hugo van Lawick trained his camera on her as much as on the chimpanzees. He shot over 140 hours of 16mm footage that was stored in an archive for decades — until now. A remarkable love story reconstituted from extraordinary rediscovered footage dating back half a century, this sub- lime film shows us primatologist Jane Goodall in her 20s, embarking on the adventure of a lifetime in Tanzania. With a magnificent score by Philip Glass. “Jane isn’t just required viewing for fans of Goodall or animal lovers, but anyone seeking a classic in the making.” Jane Kate Erbland, IndieWire
