The Argyle Reporter May 2015 Edition P a g e 2 The Argyle Reporter Aerification of the greens, tees and fairways has been completed and the course has recovered beautifully. The Greens Staff was busy removing downed limbs and debris around the property that winter left behind. Edging of the bunkers and installation of new sand has also begun. Over the next couple of weeks, sand will be redistributed throughout the bunkers as it tends to migrate to the low spots during heavy rain and other extreme weather events. We were able to remove several dead trees around the course this year, however, the weather didn’t’ allow us to complete some much needed pruning along the fence line on #15. This work will be completed as soon as we can get the heavy tree trimming equipment across the course. Cart path and parking lot repairs are also on the agenda this spring and will begin as soon as the ground conditions allow. The halfway house is open and ready for use and we have installed a new ice and water dispenser for your convenience. The restrooms by the pool snack bar are also up and running and soon the snack bar will be open so you can stop by on the turn and pick up an ice-cold beverage, assorted wraps, hot dogs and snacks. We have been moving forward with some great capital improvements this spring. The lobby renovation has been completed and I have received very positive feedback. Thank you to everyone who served on the Decoration Committee, you did a fantastic job. The new fence along the pool area looks fantastic and the kitchen is receiving some new equipment and higher volume exhaust fans that will help improve their operation. Our main computer server is up and running and we continue to clean up our files and data. The following is a message from the Argyle Swim Team: Thank you all to everyone who joined the Kids party at Argyle last month. It was great to see you – and for those who could not attend, we missed you. It was a fun afternoon of bouncing on the moon bounce, designing t-shirts and dancing to the DJ – albeit a little cool for an April day. As the weather begins to warm and we head towards the end of the school year you might find yourself planning for summer days filled with fun. If so, we wanted to take this opportunity to share a little more about the Argyle Alligators swim team, as we would love it if your kids would join us for the 2015 summer season! Here are the top 10 things you should know: 1. It’s fun! 2. The Alligators help kids build a great sense of team - they compete together and cheer together. 3. It’s more than swimming – the kids go to movies, are heading to Sandy Spring Adventure Park, dye t-shirts, have a pancake breakfast, and so much more… 4. It’s not just about the kids – many swim parents share how through the team they got to know other Argyle members and formed really great new friendships. 5. The whole family can join in – as part of the Argyle Alligators you can cheer from the sidelines, be a timer, write ribbons and more. The team needs your help for just a few meets each season (it’s not a big commitment and a great an easy way to participate). 6. The meets are accommodating for working parents, with events on Tuesday and Thursday evenings it is a great way to cheer for your kids at the end of the day. 7. The Argyle coaches are Montgomery County’s best-kept secret. The small team is under the watchful eye of Head Coach, Maneth Gravell, who has been leading Argyle swimmers to success for years. 8. Keeps kids fit. With options for morning and evening swim practice - you can make the practice times work around other camps or schedules. 9. The end of season banquet ends the season with a bang – great presentations for all the achievements of the swimmers, great food and drink and dancing and playing games with a DJ. 10. Did we already say – it’s fun! If your kids are interested in joining, or if you have any questions, please give Stephanie Meinhardt a call at 301-598-5500. We look forward to seeing you this summer at the pool, on the tennis court, or on the !

We have finally rolled out our new spring/summer menu. There are a lot of changes and I’m sure everyone will be satisfied with all of the new items. Come on in and check it out. You will not be disappointed. There have been some pretty good turnouts thus far for our “Lab” projects. I think we hit the nail on the head with this and it is a really cool way to make changes based on popular opin- ion. Don’t forget to mark your calendars for our next lab…… Ribs!!! We will provide a little more than a half rack with several different sauces. We will also start with a salad of course and we will also have some family style sides on each table. The winning sauce will replace our current BBQ sauce so come out and “Rock the Vote.”
