Ashbaugh The Reno-Sparks community is in a seismically hazardous area. Recent research indicates that a Richter 7.0 or greater magnitude earthquake could affect the area. Many of the emergency and essential facilities are situated in dangerous geological locations and are housed in outdated structures which could be severely damaged in the event of a major earthquake. Detailed site evaluations need to be made with respect to location of new structures and of existing building safety. -

Organization. In one word, that is the greatest need in moving forward with the Club’s new layout construction. Layout Planning/Organization Meeting On Saturday, September 11, there will be a work planning Saturday, September 11 and organization meeting beginning at 10:00 a.m. Our 10:00-12:00 (Pizza Lunch) objective is to develop a schedule of tasks, complete with timelines and work leaders, or anything else helpful to New Layout Construction move our construction forward in a timely and methodical Each Saturday 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM manner. We want to rekindle the spirit that moved us so fast toward the beginning of our track laying. We also Construction/Cleanup Sessions: want to efficiently capture all the various talents our Club Each Thursday 7:30 PM to 9:00 PM members offer. Come and share your ideas on how we can best accomplish this important need. Public Run Session Sundays—September 12 and 26 10:30 AM to 3:00 PM (Sign up in Clubhouse to reserve operator slots) Coast Layout Tour Board Meeting: Wednesday, September 8 7:30 PM to 9:00 PM Mark your calendars for Saturday, October 2. The Club is planning a tour of the coast members layouts in Crescent General Membership Meeting City. For those who went last year, this tour was quite a Wednesday, September 22 highlight. -

The RTC 1st Floor Conference Room is accessible to individuals with disabilities. II. The Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) has a standing item for accepting public comment on topics relevant to the RTC TAC that are not included on the agenda. No action may be taken on a matter raised under this item of the agenda until the matter itself has been specifically included on an agenda as an item upon which action will be taken. For specific items on the TAC agenda, public comment will be taken at the time the item is discussed. Individuals providing public comment will be limited to three minutes. Individuals acting as a spokesperson for a group may request additional time. Attempts to present public input in a disruptive manner will not be allowed. Remarks will be addressed to the TAC as a whole and not to individual members. III. The TAC may combine two or more agenda items for consideration and/or may remove an item from the agenda or delay discussion relating to an item on the agenda at any time. -

This was right when the internet was coming into its own, and before I had easy access to a scanner or a digital camera. The pictures shown here were the results of image searches for various Los Angeles area landmarks. I must say, though, I did take virtually identical pictures of everything except the subway car. On my old cheap film camera, it would have been all but impossible to take a good picture in an underground station.] [More than many of the trips I’ve taken, this one surprised me and tested my pre-conceived notions. I wasn’t really expecting to like Los Angeles, but it turned out to be one of my favorite places anywhere—a city almost completely different from the stereotypes I’d had of it. I’ve been back to L.A. three times since this trip, and I’d return again tomorrow if I could afford it. -
