Wednesday 19th May Teralba Worm Farm off More than worms! The Teralba Griffen Road, Teralba worm farm is also an educational centre into composting, gardening and waste. Saturday 29th May Train ride to Morisett. Come join us for a train ride down to Morisett – short and interesting trip that goes past wetlands and some of the lake. Train times will be emailed out. Join us in the last carriage. Lunch at Lion’s Park on Dora St (next to the station) Monday 7th June Fig tree community Figtree is a kid heaven! Chickens, gardens (Albert Street, cubby house, sound garden, sandpit by the Croatian Club, and lots and lots of plants (most of Wickham) which are edible!) Wednesday 16th June Nobbys beach, Meet at Nobbys beach, near the lighthouse surf lifesaving buildings to walk up to the lighthouse and back. Saturday 25th June Newcastle greening A fantastic hidden garden, the centre (March Street, greening centre has herbs, chooks, Kotara) nursery and a creek walk. If you’re a Newcastle resident, bring along your rates notice and you’ll get free native plants! Monday 5th July Jesmond park, Newcastle This park has recently been road. Saturday 31st July Bike riding the Fernleigh Get warm with a winter bike ride! trail Meet at the Station street carpark, Whitebridge. Cycle through bushland and a historic tunnel. About 5km return, so little ones would be best suited to bike seats etc. Monday 2nd August Merewether beach Meet a Mereweather surf club for a stroll along the beach and explore in and among the rock pools. (or a hot drink at Swell!) Wednesday 18th August Fig tree community Come along to the gardens for a gardens picnic among the plants. Albert Street, by the Croatian Club, Wickham Saturday 29th August Nursery Café – With spring on the way, now is a Poppy’s Garden great time to pick out some Centre, 83 Oakdale seedlings for your veggie garden. Monday 6th September The Hunter Wetlands This is a great place to visit with Centre off the kids, catch (and release) critters roundabout, from the pond, see bird feeding and Sandgate Rd, walk through a ‘textile’ garden Shortland designed for kids. Picnic on the Stockton side before heading back on the ferry. Monday 4th October Blackbutt reserve Native animals, duck feeding, play (meeting off Carnley equipment, bush walking. Monday 1st November Eco Art! Come along and participate in an George Street Park, eco art activity. Don’t know what Tighes Hill this is just yet but will be in touch about what to bring along. Meet either at the park at 10am or in Warners bay at 9.30 with bikes to cycle to the park.
