Nomura Appoints New Advisory Board Members

Tokyo, May 19, 2020—Nomura Holdings, Inc. today announced that it has appointed two new Advisory Board members.

Nomura is pleased to welcome Mr. Chartsiri Sophonpanich, President of Bangkok Bank Public Company Limited, and Mr. Philip Hammond, former Member of Parliament and Chancellor of the Exchequer, as new members. They join current Advisory Board members Mr. Goh Chok Tong and Mr. Deepak Parekh, who have been on the board since April 2015.

Nomura first established its Advisory Board in 2001 to advise the firm’s Executive Management Board, which is responsible for making decisions on business execution. The purpose of the board is to receive advice and suggestions on Nomura’s business and overall management from external leaders with extensive expertise in business and management.

In 2015, Nomura appointed four preeminent Asian leaders as Advisory Board members, and has held seven meetings up until March 2019 in Tokyo, and other Asian cities.

As a global financial services group, Nomura will continue to apply the advice and global perspectives of the board to management.

Nomura Advisory Board members Name Background Mr. Goh Chok Tong Emeritus of Singapore

Prime Minister of Singapore from 1990 to 2004, and Senior Minister from 2004 to 2011. He has been Emeritus Senior Minister of Singapore and Senior Advisor to the Monetary Authority of Singapore since 2011. Mr. Deepak Parekh Chairman of HDFC Group

Chairman of India-headquartered HDFC since 1993. He has successively filled roles on various high-powered economic groups, government-appointed advisory committees and task forces. Mr. Chartsiri Sophonpanich President of Bangkok Bank Public Company Limited

President of Bangkok Bank Public Company Limited since 1994. He held various senior management positions in Bangkok Bank before being appointed President in December 1994 and has been a member of the Board of Executive Directors since 1992.

Mr. Philip Hammond Former Member of Parliament and Chancellor of the Exchequer

He served in the UK Cabinet for nine years, holding the post of Chancellor of the Exchequer from 2016 to 2019, Foreign Secretary from 2014 to 2016, Defense Secretary from 2011 to 2014, and Transport Secretary from 2010 to 2011. He was a Member of Parliament from 1997 to 2019.
