Welcome to the 27th edition of the Paul Roggeman European Open Beach Championship, the largest three day beach fishing competition in Europe. Paul started the European Open Beach Championship in and it is remarkable to see that a small two day beach fishing competition has grown and developed into what it is today. This has been made possible by Paul’s tireless hard work and dedication to make the event a success. This matched with your fantastic support is what has helped make the championship so unique. Last year’s competition was a huge success and saw a great attendance of new and old anglers battle it out, congratulations again to our Overall 2019 winner, Chris Fisher, Junior Champion Josh Wilson and Female Champion Cheryl Robinson. Our 27th year will see as always, an exceptional prize table, with huge cash prizes and THE HOME OF SEA ANGLING fantastic fishing equipment to be won! Competitors will be able to pick up valuable experiences, tactics, skills and techniques whilst enjoying a fun-filled weekend meeting new and old friends. Some of the top companies within the industry will be exhibiting to provide you with an insight into all aspects of sea angling. The Sea Angling Adventures Team will return for 2020 as we look to provide competitors with fantastic coverage in the build-up and during the Championships. Please read the following rules carefully as they will be strictly adhered to for the competition. The Flattie Bash is run in partnership with George Smith. For all enquiries for the Flattie Bash please contact George on 07857 550125. This year’s event will take place on Hornsea and Mappleton beaches and will be zoned. Never leave any rubbish or litter behind. Take home all discarded hooks, line, rigs and any other rubbish.

1. Competitors wishing to use power casting styles should use a minimum of 50lb breaking strain shock leader. Furthermore, it is recommended that the breaking strain of the shock leader should be a minimum shock leader of 10lb per oz of weight being used.

2. Any form of dangerous casting is prohibited. Any competitor who makes a dangerous cast will be disqualified.

3. The minimum distance between two competitors fishing on the beach must be 10 metres or 12 yards unless advised otherwise by the Stewards during the competition. Any competitor not adhering to this safety advice will be disqualified.

4. Beware of rising tides.

5. Fish in close proximity to other competitors. Tell someone where you will be and your expected time of return.

6. In many areas, high and soft muddy cliffs hinder the access to the beach. DO NOT climb up and down those cliffs. It is recommended to find an easy access to the beach and walk alongside the base of the cliffs to the fishing spot.
