Paul started the European Open Beach Championship in Bridlington and it is remarkable to see that a small two day beach fishing competition has grown and developed into what it is today. This has been made possible by Paul’s tireless hard work and dedication to make the event a success. This matched with your fantastic support is what has helped make the championship so unique. Last year’s competition was a huge success and saw a great attendance of new and old anglers battle it out, congratulations again to our Overall 2019 winner, Chris Fisher, Junior Champion Josh Wilson and Female Champion Cheryl Robinson. Our 27th year will see as always, an exceptional prize table, with huge cash prizes and THE HOME OF SEA ANGLING fantastic fishing equipment to be won! Competitors will be able to pick up valuable experiences, tactics, skills and techniques whilst enjoying a fun-filled weekend meeting new and old friends. Some of the top companies within the industry will be exhibiting to provide you with an insight into all aspects of sea angling. The Sea Angling Adventures Team will return for 2020 as we look to provide competitors with fantastic coverage in the build-up and during the Championships. MAPPLETON signposted ‘Viewing Area’ Venue: Well sheltered from Northerly winds. Mostly flat, sandy beaches. Venue: Fishes well through the flood tide to high water. Toilet facilities available. Venue for the 2020 EOBC Flattie Bash. Access: Good access via slipway or the slope and steps. Access: Access to the beach is via a slipway. - Pay and display ‘Limekiln Lane’ and ‘North Marine Drive’. - Free car park on cliff top (approx. 30 cars) - Via slipway. - Rays, flounders and whiting. - Cod, rays and whiting. 2. BRIDLINGTON South Beach / Wilsthorpe 7. WITHERNSEA North and South Venue: Wide flat sandy beaches. Fishable at high tides. Venue: Fishes well after a good North-Easterly wind. Access: Good access from various points. Access: There are steps down to the beach from the Promenade. - Park and ride car park (charges apply). - Flatfish and whiting. - On-street parking throughout the town and along the sea front. - Via slipway. - Cod, rays and whiting. 3. Expect heavy tackle losses. Venue: Beware, the cliffs can be very muddy. Access: Good, easy access via sandy path (low cliffs). HORNSEA North Beach Venue: Wide-open sandy beach. Great beach on flooding/larger tides. Venue for the 2020 EOBC Flattie Bash. Access: Good access to the beach via steps. 9. KILNSEA - Free parking at Morrow Avenue Car Park. Venue: Beware of heavy erosion and potential dangers due to unstable structures. Expect some heavy tackle losses, as bottom is littered - Cod, rays and whiting. with remnants of gun placements. Access: For easier access approach beach to the right of road end. - Pay and display parking ‘Bluebell Car Park’ 5. HORNSEA Middle and South Beach (at the road end by ‘Sandy Beaches Caravan Site Ltd’). Venue: Sandy and fairly steep beach. Good beach on flooding/larger tides. - Some disabled access although not wheelchair users. Gullies can vary with a continuous North-Easterly wind. - Cod, possible skate and whiting. Venue for the 2020 EOBC Flattie Bash. Access: Good access to the beach via Promenade or steps. - Pay and display ‘Leisure Centre Car Park’, ‘Broadway Car Park’ and ‘Eastgate Car Park’. - Cod, rays and whiting.
