Fall is officially here according to the calendar and we have been having some beautiful weather. Enjoy it while it lasts. We had five cars head over to Bozeman to the Museum of the Rockies. It was a great day for a drive and tour of the Museum. Thanks to those that came. Our New Member/Year End party is still scheduled for October 10th at my home. This is our last big event for the year. I have had several RSVP so far but I hope to hear from more of you. It will start at 2:00 pm. Please bring a side dish and a beverage of your choice. My address is 729 Aronson Ave. I hope to see you there. Our breakfast meeting is also that same day. I am heading to the Escape to Rushmore on September 30th for the weekend. This looks like a great trip. I am anxious to drive through the Black Hills and make some new friends along the way. So far I know of Ernie and Chrissy Bunn and Jim and Francie Hasbrouck that are attending. Watch for pictures on our Absaroka Region Facebook page. Roy Thorneycroft, Jim and Karen Grace, and I joined the Big Sky Mini’s and the Vintage European Car clubs for their Gimmick run and Grape Stomp at Yellowstone Cellars. It was a perfect day for a drive. I learned of some new back roads in our area we can explore next year. Stomping grapes is also great fun. We appreciated the invite. I hope everyone has a Happy Halloween and Thanksgiving! Stephanie Haider

The restroom facilities and ability to have vendors on site add to the event. The abundant space allows for lots of Bill Witcher Memorial Best Vintage Car vehicles. The downside of having lots of space is it makes the Jim Hasbrouck – 1954 show look empty. Therein lies a challenge for next year’s chair- man or chairwomen.

Dan and Stephanie had a friendly bet to see who could get the most Boxsters or 911s to the event. Stephanie won the bet eas- ily with Dan 10-4.

This year we were again able to connect with some longtime Absaroka members who we have missed over the years due to busy schedules. Tom Moffet, Stephen Gies, and Jerry Jones were there with a trio of 911s; Tom’s new 997 cabriolet re- placed his longtime 911SC and two beautiful GT3s.

Each year there always seems to be a highlight. Usually, it’s a unique car like the pair of Lamborghinis from a few years back, or Bill Culhane’s Lancia. Following the check presentation, the children came outside and looked at Stephanie’s red 911 and Dan’s blue Boxster. It was a lot of fun and we wish we would have had more cars for them to check out.

Northern Plains Vintage Car Club and VW Highlight

For next year’s show we’re going to team up with Northern Plains Vintage Car Club to help us pull the show off. We simply need more participation on the planning, set up and take down. They have always come out in force to support us and as we have learned over the course of the year, working with the other local clubs benefits everyone. That leads into the highlighted car for next year which will be . The local VW club is another group that comes out each show en masse and sup- ports us. It’ll be fun to put the spotlight on them and their unique VWs. We’ll plan on adding a couple special classes for best VW such as Air Cooled and VW — Water Cooled.

The charity part of the show was also another big success albe- it our cash number to donate was down with the withdrawal of a couple of car dealers from the show. None the less, we were able to donate $250 to Bench School in the Heights to help them with support for those students in need. When Stephanie and Dan presented the check, the school's administrators told some stories that were humbling. It’s really a great cause to support with our Club’s efforts.

7 Museum of the Rockies Drive

In the busy month of September, Absaroka Members made a drive over to Bozeman to visit the Museum of the Rockies and dinosaurs! It was a great day at the Museum. Making the trip were Ernie and Crissy Bunn, Herb Stoick and Sharla Thompson, Erik and Stephanie Krueger and kids and Anthony and Lynette Santore. Bozeman member, Bob Petitt, was able to swing by to say hel- lo to the group in his white 356. Thanks everyone for making it a fun day.

8 Big Sky Minis and High Plains Vintage Yellowstone Cellars & Winery — Grape Stomp & Crush Festival

In keeping with the theme of participating with oth- er car clubs, in September several Absaroka members went out with the Big Sky Minis and High Plains Vintage Car Club for a rally. Roy & Ka- ren Thorneycroft, Jim and Karen Grace, and Stephanie Haider spent the day touring new roads on a gimmick rally that ended at Yellowstone Cel- lars & Winery in Billings. At the winery they partici- pated in the Grape Stomp & Crush Festival fund raiser. It was a beautiful day for a drive and to get your toes purple! Stephanie reports they discovered some new fun roads in our area we can enjoy next year. Thanks to those folks for inviting our club to join them.

9 ABS Region Calendar 2015 New Member/Year End Party

Our New Member/Year End Party will be on Saturday, October 10th. Our traditional host for the season end- ing party, Bill Windham ,is busy preparing for Morphy Auctions October 11 car auction in Pennsylvania. This year we will keep the party local.

Stephanie Haider will be hosting the party at her home in the Billings Heights.

Stephanie has a big back yard and plenty of steaks left over from the Grand Tour BBQ. The party will be the same pot luck format as in past years. Please bring a side dish to share and a beverage of your choice.

The festivities begin at 2:00 PM at 729 Aronson Ave- nue in the Billings Heights.

Please RSVP to Stephanie at: [email protected] or call 406.672.4815 so we know how many steaks to thaw.
