SPECIAL TRIP: WHITNEY MUSEUM, CHELSEA MARKET & THE HIGHLINE THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 22nd at 9 AM The New Whitney Museum in lower is an architectural joy! Just walking through the new galleries and enjoying the vistas of the Hudson River is exciting. We have a special private docent-led tour of the museum, with a view of the new show: Stuart Davis: In Full Swing. After our tours, we will have ample time to browse in the gift shop or simply enjoy the view across the Hudson.

Our bus will then take us to Chelsea Market. This 118 year old Historic Landmark building was once the National Biscuit Company (Nabisco) factory complex where Oreo cookies were invented and produced. The ground-level concourse features stores like Chelsea Market Baskets, Manhattan Fruit Exchange, Amy’s Bread, Chelsea Wine Vault, The Lobster Place and many eateries for tasting and feasting. In addition there are stores selling cheese, chocolates and flowers. This is the ultimate indoor ! We will enjoy the interesting architectural features of the building itself as we wander through this interesting venue.

Then we will take the elevator up to New York’s only elevated outdoor park, The High Line, for great views of the Hudson River and the many new buildings that have graced the neighborhood. For those who do not wish to walk too far, there are benches all along the walkway to rest and relax. Either way, this will be a trip that everyone will enjoy!
