General Description of the Scheme Total 327,871 596,790 The pension scheme is a defined benefit final salary pension arrangement with benefits and contributions defined by reference to current ‘model’ public sector scheme regulations. The scheme provides a pension (eightieths per year of service), a gratuity or lump sum (three eightieths per year of service) and spouse’s and children’s pensions. Normal retirement age is a member’s 65th birthday, and pre 2004 members have an entitlement to retire without actuarial reduction from age 60. Pensions in payment (and deferment) normally increases in line with general public sector salary inflation.

In addition to the contracted commitments outstanding at year-end of €3,248,351, disclosed in Note 2 , an additional €4,137,500 in respect of provisional offers of assistance was outstanding. The major portion of such commitments, €3,830,000 is in respect of feature productions where offers are subject to certain terms and conditions including cast, crew, recruitment and financial structure. They remain valid for 12 months at which stage they are subject to review. These offers are also conditional on the availability of Board’s funds.
