After surviving a terrifying night trapped by a violent lightning storm the boys; Jake (an alpha jock), Felix (a Goth), Andy (a nerd) and Sam (the golden child) expect a heroic reception when they return home. Instead they discover that they are now total strangers to their friends and families – they don’t “exist” anymore. All public records of them have vanished and the world has reconfigured itself, Felix’s disabled brother can walk and Jake’s struggling parents are now leading successful lives. The boys are forced to fend for themselves and grapple with basic questions of survival. While trying to prove they still exist, Sam discovers he has a doppelgänger called Sammy and Andy’s scientific obsession with finding a rational explanation for their bizarre situation nearly kills him. As more strange accidents begin to befall them the boys start to wonder if something otherworldly is out to get them. The boys live in the fictional small town of Bremin, on the outskirts of a large city.

Dialog is age appropriate and, although there are some stereotypes, they had been written well and in funny manner. I really enjoy each and every episode of the show, and the fact that there is real dose of unpredictability. There is magic. There is science. Unlike other shows of similar type, which base either on one or another, "Nowhere Boys" really allow themselves large spectrum of possibilities, which they use in such manner that things don't get boring.

Inspired by the 16th Century Chinese fable Journey to the West, the 10-part half hour series follows a teenage girl and a trio of fallen gods on a perilous journey as they attempt to bring an end to a demonic reign of chaos and restore balance to their world. The talented and diverse young cast includes Chai Hansen (Mako Mermaids, The 100) as Monkey, with Luciane Buchanan (Filthy Rich, Blue Rose) playing Tripitaka, Josh Thomson (Terry Teo, 7 Days, The Project) playing Pigsy and Emilie Cocquerel (Lion, An Accidental Soldier) playing Sandy. The series is being filmed at stunning locations in and around Auckland, New Zealand, as well as on spectacular purpose-built sets that bring to life the magical fantasy world our characters inhabit. The Legend of Monkey is being produced for ABC, TVNZ and Netflix by the Oscar and Emmy-winning production company See-Saw Films together with Jump Film & TV.
