PREMISE Four mismatched teenage boys – Andy, Felix, Jake and Sam – go on a school excursion trekking through dense forest. They get lost and find themselves caught in an unexpected and violent lightning storm. Surviving the night and expecting a heroic reception upon their return home, the boys find that something strange and terrible has happened. They have returned, present day, to a world where they no longer exist. It’s not that they are ghosts – people can see, hear, and touch our four young heroes. But none of their parents, siblings or friends know who they are. All public records of them – birth certificates, passports, even library cards – have vanished. And, worst of all, the world has reconfigured itself as though they were never born. The series follows the four boys in their quest to find out what happened to them. CAST FELIX Dougie Baldwin The Real World Felix is intelligent, sarcastic, and an eternal cynic. Very much a loner, with few social skills, he has only one friend – Ellen, a fellow Goth. Felix has a brother Oscar, who had an accident climbing a tree a few years back, and is now in a wheelchair. Although he and Oscar are close, Felix feels responsible for Oscar and through his obsession with witchcraft, he hopes one day to use magic beyond science to help is brother. New Reality While the spell, and subsequently the new reality, was created by Felix, he wasn’t aware there would be consequences. The spell was solely designed to fix Oscar, which it did, but he did not expect it to erase their existences. As the series progresses, his magic skills grow stronger, and he obtains a talisman to help protect the boys from the demon. He de-Goths and befriends Oscar. He feels his mother is nicer to him in this reality, as this “friend” of her son’s. Aside from some bumps in the road, he’s kind of enjoying this new reality. CAST SAM Rahart Sadiqzai The Real World Sam is the golden boy, effortlessly cool and naturally gifted. Everything comes easy to him. He even has the prettiest girlfriend, Mia. Coming from the “perfect” family, he has two brothers, lives in a great house, and everyone gets along. Deep down, perhaps Sam takes everything he has for granted? New Reality For the first time, Sam has to fight for something. Well, everything actually. Along with the two brothers from the real world, his parents ironically also have a son named Sammy, who is even dating Mia. Sam focuses on trying to win back Mia – he’s attentive, interested, and makes an effort…as Sammy too takes Mia for granted. Sam is making waves with his “brothers” too, who are protective of Sammy. Of all the boys, Sam wants his old life back the most. CAST JAKE Matthew Testro The Real World Popular, athletic, and confident, Jake is a perennial winner, yet a schoolyard bully, especially to Felix. However, his home life is far from perfect. His single mother struggles to raise Jake and pay the bills, with little help from his dad. As a result, he and his mother are extremely close and Jake assumes a mountain of responsibility around the house. New Reality Jake wonders if the world is better without him. His mother is now a Lexus-driving, successful real estate agent, and is married to Jake’s science teacher. Further, Jake’s real father Gary, now a respectable man as a police sergeant, is a pillar figure in the town. Through this new experience, Jake becomes the “den mother” to their hangout, and finds a genuine friendship with Andy. CAST ANDY Joel Lok The Real World A geek and unflinchingly logical, Andy’s mind and imagination are second to none, built solely on theories, but he has zero practical experience. However, he knows everything about Bear Grylls’ survival skills. The only boy in a Singaporean-Chinese family, Andy has been mothered three times – by his grandmother, mother, and older sister. He would do anything for some freedom. New Reality His first taste of freedom! He can now be the man of action he’s always wanted to be as he becomes more outgoing and self-reliant. At first skeptical about Felix’s “magic”, he eventually accepts the nature, and studies it like he would his theories. He looks to combine science and magic to find a way back to their former world. Ellen, Felix’s friend from the real world, even likes him. OTHER CHARACTERS PHOEBE – Michala Banas Phoebe runs Arcane Lane, the magic shop, and is the local “aficionado” of all things spiritual and pseudoscientific. Phoebe’s sister Alice went missing years earlier in similar circumstances to the boys. Phoebe strikes an oddly dissonant chord compared to the other “normal” residents of Bremin. In the parallel universe, Phoebe comes to view the boys, particularly Felix, as an opportunity to get her sister back. She becomes their “guardian”, confidant, and resource in their quest to return to the real world. ELLEN – Darci McDonald Ellen, Felix’s best friend in the real world, and also a Goth, exhibits the same cynical attitude as Felix and is taunted by her peers for being an outcast. In the parallel universe, Ellen is decidedly more mainstream in her appearance yet retains her pessimistic nature. She is best friends with Mia and has become smitten with Andy, following a brush of death from which he saved her. OSCAR – Sean Rees-Wemyss Felix’s younger brother who is wheel-chair bound following an accident where he fell from a tree while playing with Felix. In the parallel universe, Oscar is able to walk but does not remember Felix of course. An only child in this world, he is somewhat eccentric and fond of sci-fi and role-playing games. Oscar and Felix become friends. Events with Oscar set things in motion for the boys’ possible return… THEMES THROUGHOUT SEASON 1 THE COMMUNITY THE BOYS THE THREAT The people of Bremin have no idea what to In addition to their central quest to find out After the magical event in the forest, a dark think of the arrival of these four strange what happened to them, the boys have to force circles the boys and unnatural events teenage boys. GAME PROGRESSION The overall game consists of five worlds which will unlock at key stages during the broadcast schedule. The players will take on the persona of a fifth boy who, like the Nowhere Boys, is lost between dimensions. Cast into an unknown world and pursued by an aggressive, unknown female force, the boy is drawn to a strange apparition. She promises him she can get them home, if he helps her to rebuild a powerful Talisman. The boy’s involuntary quest becomes a bid for survival that tests the very limits of his physical and mental ability. He travels through themes Earth, Air, Water and Fire before he has a final confrontation with his nemesis in the Spirit world. As the player advances on their journey they will begin to see the Nowhere Boys and other series characters as glitches appear between the two worlds. Before long, it is apparent that the player shares a common enemy with the Nowhere Boys and that he will play an integral role in helping them get back home.
