I wanted stop sitting, we stop sitting. We do the morning it that way and I need it to be that way to maintain service and eat. After eating, we do morning chores. my monastic practice. I no longer live in a temple. I After chores, we have a tea break, chosan; then live with a wife and two children ± it is different. My work, then noon service; then meal, then rest, then training was twelve years of monastic practice in back to work; then afternoon tea and afternoon Japan. I practised in three monasteries. The longest I service; then supper and evening sitting. It is very stayed in a monastery was for seven-and-a-half routine. years, the last one I stayed in was for two years. So if , GRQ¶W SURYLGH P\VHOI ZLWK WKDW VWUXFWXUH EHFDXVH , am married and have children, and if I resume the general kind of lay life, then I lose monastic practice. I become a fish out of water. I die (Ekai Osho laughs). It is interesting because when I moved from Japan to Melbourne, I was prepared to die. I knew nothing about Melbourne. I rented a garage for Jikishoan so I could survive, incubate in that space. Tulku Thadral Rinpoche
Tulku Thadral Rinpoche Tulku Thadral was born in India in 1970 – the son of Drolma and Dondrub, a yogi from the Sang- ngak Choling Monastery. At the age of four Tulku Thadral was recognized by HH Dudjom Rinpoche as the reincarnation of Lama Thadral Dorje, a student of the Dudjom Lingpa lineage. He received refuge vows from Nyoshul Khenpo Jamyang Rinpoche and Bodhicitta vows from His Holiness the Dalai Lama and Taklung Tsetrul Rinpoche, Dzongsar Jamyang Khyentse Rinpoche, followed by novice vows and full ordination from Kyabje Trulshik Rinpoche and Taklung Tsetrul Rinpoche. Tulku Thadral received the Vajrayana vows as well as the Kama and Terma transmissions from HH Dudjom Rinpoche, HH Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche, HH Dodrupchen Rinpoche, Kyabje Dungse Thinley Norbu Rinpoche and Kyabje Khetsun Sangpo Rinpoche. Since childhood Tulku Thadral has lived and studied at the Nyingmapa Wishfulfilling Center for Study and Practice, the Shedra established by HH Dudjom Rinpoche. At a young age he progressed through his studies with astonishing speed. Regarding the Vajrayana, Rinpoche completed his preliminary practices in the Dudjom Tersar cycle following instructions received from Kyabje Thinley Norbu Rinpoche, and in the Longchen Nyingthik under Khetsun Sangpo Rinpoche, his root teacher. He focused his studies and practice in the Dudjom Tersar Three Roots and received teachings on philosophy, meditation and ritual training from Khenpo Thubten, Pema Tsewang Lhundrup, Khenpo Tsewang Rigdzin, Khenpo Gelek Tenzin and Lama Chimed Rinpoche. He balanced his studies with private retreat whenever he had the time. In early 1998, after graduating from his studies of sutra and tantra, Taklung Tsetrul Rinpoche and Khetsun Sangpo Rinpoche enthroned Rinpoche as Khentrul Thadral Rinpoche, “Khentrul” being the title bestowed on one with a Khenpo degree, also recognized as a tulku, and possessing a high level of realization. -

~ Biographies of Dzogchen Masters ~ Jigme Lingpa: A Guide to His Works It is hard to overstate the importance of Jigme Lingpa to the Nyingma tradition of Tibetan Buddhism. This itinerant yogi, along with Rongzom Mahapandita, Longchenpa, and-later-Mipham Rinpoche, are like four pillars of the tradition. He is considered the incarnation of both the great master Vimalamitra and the Dharma king Trisong Detsen. After becoming a monk, he had a vision of Mañjuśrīmitra which caused him to change his monks robes for the white shawl and long hair of a yogi. In his late twenties, he began a long retreat during which he experienced visions and discovered termas. A subsequent retreat a few years later was the container for multiple visions of Longchenpa, the result of which was the Longchen Nyingthig tradition of terma texts, sadhanas, prayers, and instructions. What many consider the best source for understanding Jigme Lingpa's relevance, and his milieu is Tulku Thondup Rinpoche's Masters of Meditation and Miracles: Lives of the Great Buddhist Masters of India and Tibet. While the biographical coverage of him only comprises about 18 pages, this work provides the clearest scope of the overall world of Jigme Lingpa, his line of incarnations, and the tradition and branches of teachings that stem from him. Here is Tulku Thondup Rinpoche's account of his revelation of the Longchen Nyingtik. "At twenty-eight, he discovered the extraordinary revelation of the Longchen Nyingthig cycle, the teachings of the Dharmakāya and Guru Rinpoche, as mind ter. The joyful presence of so many of our Marpa family, which included a real international presence. The ling glorious weather smiled upon us all weekend, making mealtime BUDDHIST picnicking around the beautiful MEDITATION AND garden delightful. Incredible teachings from Kyabje Chime RETREAT CENTRE Rinpoche, Pasang Rinpoche and Lama Sean made it feel like Summer School was squeezed into a weekend! On top of this was an offering of robes to the White Sangha, several Body, Speech and Mind offerings and a Guru Rinpoche Tsok puja to finish. It was remarkable to have so much happen in one weekend, and I’m sure that it will remain in our hearts forever. What a perfect blessing for us all. Earlier in the year, saw the Shrine room refurbished and the new Shrine fitted. We were delighted that Rinpoche came out of his writing retreat to bless the Shrine at Losar, and I know that many of you were moved by the beauty of this new Shrine. -

Third Edition, 1998 The Venerable Traleg Kyabgon, Rinpoche was born in 1955 in Eastern Tibet. At the age of two, he was recognised by His Holiness the sixteenth Gyalwa Karmapa, head of the Kagyu lineage, as the ninth incarnation of the Traleg tulkus, which can be traced back to the time of Saltong Shogam, a contemporary of the first Karmapa. Traleg Rinpoche was enthroned as the Abbot of Tra'gu Monastery in Tibet and following the Chinese invasion of his country was taken to safety in India. There he continued the rigorous training prescribed for tulkus born with responsibilities as major lineage holders in the Tibetan tradition of Vajrayana Buddhism. This training included five years at Sanskrit University in Varanasi and several years at Rumtek Monastery, the main seat of the Karma Kagyu Lineage. Not only has Traleg Rinpoche received the complete teachings of the Karma Kagyu tradition of Vajrayana Buddhism, but he is also well acquainted with the practices and philosophy of the Drugpa Kagyu strand of the Kagyu lineage, having spent nine years studying with the Regent of the Drugpa Kagyu, the late Dungse Rinpoche, at his monastery in Darjeeling. -

Lama Tharchin Rinpoche’s words about Kyabje Dungse Thinley Norbu Rinpoche’s Dechö “Regarding Dechö, In this instance, ”De” is the time when Kyabje Dungse Rinpoche passed into Parinirvana and “Cho” is the aspect where the student can make offerings to connect with the blessings of Rinpoche’s wisdom mind. “Dechö is important because the time becomes very holy and special. We celebrate Buddha Shakyamuni’s Twelve Deeds, and once a month we celebrate Guru Rinpoche’s activities and particular manifestations as being powerful holy days, for example, when special things happened. For us, our Lama’s Dechö is equal to that of Buddha Shakyamuni and all past Buddhas, and is in fact more important because Kyabje Dungse Thinley Norbu Rinpoche is our root lama: He shows us the path, gives teachings, guides us on the path and we rely on Rinpoche until we become fully enlightened and inseparable with him. It is like doing one mantra on a holy day where the merit multiplies by millions. During this time, we can remember Rinpoche’s wisdom, his kindness, how much that has penetrated our mind, how our lives would be inconceivable without him. “I am not saying that when Rinpoche was alive there was less blessing. I am saying that when Rinpoche passed and the structure of his body opened, Rinpoche’s wisdom mind was/ is able to pervade everywhere and the penetration of Rinpoche’s blessings became more powerful. “For example, when Garab Dorje passed away, his disciple Shri Singha fainted out of great sadness. On regaining consciousness, Garab Dorje reappeared to him and passed a small box directly to his hand. -

Among all the different causes of happiness and unhappiness people talk about, only Buddhism says unequivocally, “Mind!” Specifically, the Buddha said in “The Mind” chapter of the Dhammapada, “A tamed mind brings happiness.” Conversely, a wild and untamed mind brings suffering. Sometimes it feels like our mind is the enemy, full of painful fears, deep traumas, and repetitive thoughts we can’t seem to control. But it can also be our greatest friend, the source of love, wisdom, beauty, and all good qualities. According to Buddhism, transforming the mind of suffering into the mind of joy is the secret of life. -
