Hagstrom Guitars and Absolut Vodka Partner on Limited Edition Ultra Swede

Chicago, IL – December, 2010 - Hagstrom introduces the Limited Edition Absolut Vodka Ultra Swede . As part of Absolut Vodka’s “Rock Edition” design competition, artists entered their best work in pursuit of the grand prize, a limited edition run of their art presented on a Hagstrom Guitar. This custom Ultra Swede guitar is part of the Ultralux series, and is a great collector’s item for artists and players alike.

Limited Edition Absolut Vodka Ultra Swede

The stylized floral black and silver graphics makes this instrument truly one of a kind. The guitar features a two-piece basswood body with a maple cap, and a set in maple neck. The fingerboard is made with resinator wood and includes Hagstrom select block pearl and abalone markers. Resinator wood is a wood composite material that is homogeneous in nature and is more stable than any standard wood product. It is the perfect fingerboard material in that it eliminates wolf tones or hot spots. Like all new Hagstrom guitars, the Absolut Vodka model is built using the patented H-expander™ truss rod which allows for a thin neck and low action. This guitar also features Hagstrom Custom 62N-4 and 62B-4 pickups, 3-way toggle switch, a removable “Absolute Vodka” tailpiece cover, Hagstrom 15:1 die cast tuners, and a long travel Tune-O-Matic bridge.

The winning design was created by Nina Vollmer from Korea. Her expertise in art and deign not only compliment the Ultra Swede, but turns this guitar into an intoxicating limited edition. The Absolut Vodka Ultra Swede model will retail for $800.00 and will debut in the U.S. Winter NAMM 2011 convention in Anaheim, CA.

Hagstrom Guitars Introduces “Swedie”

Hagstrom proudly introduces a new guitar to grace the “Swede” family with its new born sibling called the “Swedie”. With its building blocks based on the classic “Swede” model, (first introduced to the world in the early 1970’s), the “Swedie” is an interpreted version of the “Swede”. Utilizing a slightly thinner body and conventional features, the “Swedie” is aimed at those looking for a classic look, but desiring an edgier tone. Employing Hagstrom’s Custom 62 open coil pickups, the “Swedie” produces an aggressive and accented tone which will cut through the mix. The “Swedie” adapts the same 3-way tone filter switch as the “Swede” to produce a vast array of tonal variations, often reminiscent of the characteristics of a half cocked wah-pedal when activated. The “Swedie” is offered in a multitude of all new vibrant Hagstrom colours for 2011.
