Bekir KARACABEY Genel Müdür i ENSTİTÜ MÜDÜRÜ SUNUŞU Meşe türleri saf ve karışık halde olmak üzere Türkiye’de geniş yayılış alanına sahip ormanlarımızın içinde önemli bir yer tutmaktadır. http://www.grida.no/enrin/biodiv/biodiv/national/fyrom/index.htm Biodiversity Biotope diversity is the pre- requisite for the rich variety of plant species in the territory of Macedonia. The presence of numerous endemic and relict species is especially evident. It has been estimated that there are 3.500 highly developed plants in the Republic of Macedonia; lowly developed plants (moss, algae and fungi) have not been fully investigated yet. There are 122 various plant communities (starting from aquatic to alpine ones), in particular: 21 aquatic and swamp communities; 8 halophytic communities; 2 steppe communities; 50 forest communities; and 51 mountain communities. The Republic of Macedonia is rich with numerous medicinal and aromatic plants, forest fruits, seeds, mushrooms etc.. The dendroflora variety may be seen in the presence of 319 tree types, with more than 80 sub-species and varieties. Within forest eco-systems, more than 80 phytocenozes have been studied and identified. The forest cover is of huge importance for the protection of waters, the land and biodiversity maintaining. The Republic of Macedonia disposes of an enormous richness of animal species distributed throughout its territory. Invertebrates and one-cell organisms have not been fully investigated; research has been done only with a few groups of worms and insects, arthropoda and frog-related species. Vertebrata have been subject to more detailed research. So far, 463 species have been identified, of which 55 fish species, 78 mammal species and 330 bird species. Research is currently under way with amphibia and reptiles, and it is at this stage estimated that there are 13 amphibian and 31 reptile species.

Despite the proximity of Sredna Gora Mountains to Sofia, the insect assemblages of this region are poorly studied. As a result of two studies carried out as a part of an Environmental Impact Assessment in the Natura 2000 Protected Areas: Sredna Gora and Popintsi, a rich diversity of insects was discovered, with 107 saproxylic and epigeobiont Coleoptera species and 355 Lepidoptera species recorded. This research was conducted during a short one-season field study in the surrounding areas of the town of Panagyurishte and Oborishte Village. Special attention was paid to protected species and their conservation status. Of the Coleoptera recorded, 22 species were of conservation significance. Forty-five Lepidoptera species of conservation importance were also recorded. KEY WORDS.WORDS. However, the mechanisms leading to reproductive isolation, the genes involved in adaptive divergence, and the traits that shape the adaptation of wild species to changes in climate are still largely unknown. In studying the role of ecological interactions and environment-driven selection, trees have emerged as potential model organisms because of their longevity and large genetic diversity, especially in natural habitats. Due to recurrent gene flow among species with different ecological preferences, oaks arose as early as the 1970s as a model for understanding how speciation can occur in the face of interspecific gene flow, and what we mean by “species” when geographically and genomically heterogeneous introgression seems to undermine species’ genetic Citation: Lazic, D.; Hipp, A.L.; coherence.
