Dirección Fernando Trueba y Javier Mariscal son los conocidos directores de la famosa película “Chico y Rita” estrenada en España en el año 2010. Entre sus premios destacan el del Premio a la mejor película de animación en la XXV edición de los Premios Goyas y las XXV de los Premios de Cine Europeo. Para conocer un poco a los directores tanto Fernando Trueba como Javier Mariscal vamos a desarrollar un poco su historia: - Fernando Trueba: Conocido como director de cine, productor y guionista español nació en Madrid, donde se formó como profesional que le llevo a aportar críticas de cine para el periódico El País. En el año 1980 protagonizó su primera película llamada Ópera Prima pero realmente llegó a alcanzar la fama en el año 1985 con la comedia Sé infiel y no mires con quién. En ningún momento de su vida desaprovechó la oportunidad de seguir dirigiendo películas y documentales. Todas estas películas se conocen como: Ópera prima, 1980. Mientras el cuerpo aguante, 1982. Sal gorda, 1983 Sé infiel y no mires con quién, 1985 El año de las luces, 1986 El sueño del mono loco, 1989 Belle Époque, 1992 Two Much, 1995 La niña de tus ojos, 1998 Calle 54, 2000 El embrujo de Shanhai, 2002 El milagro de candeal, 2004 El baile de la victoria, 2009 Chico y Rita, 2010 El artista y la modelo, 2012. - Javier Mariscal: conocido como diseñador multidisciplinar español nacido en Valencia e instalado en Barcelona; creador de imágenes que desarrolla su trabajo utilizando todo tipo de soportes y disciplinas: cómics, ilustración, diseño gráfico, industrial y textil, pintura, escultura, multimedia animación e interiorismo. Sus obras más destacadas: o Cobi, mascota de los Juegos Olímpicos de Barcelona 92. o Cosmocaixa de Barcelona. o Gran Hotel Domine Bilbao. o Bar Dúplex de Valencia. o Taburete Dúplex. o Chico y Rita. 3 1.2. Producción, nacionalidad y año Chico y Rita es una película de animación española estrenada el 25/02/2011calificada para todos los públicos y de duración de 94 minutos cuyos directores son Fernando Trueba y Javier Mariscal. En ella se conoce la figura de autores como Eman Xor Oña, Estrella Morente, Limara Meneses y Mario Guerra.. De nacionalidad cubana en 2010(como año de producción). Se identifica como guionista a Fernando Trueba y como distribuidora Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures Spain. De productora Isle of Man Film, CinemaNX y acompañado de la música de Bebo Valdés. Éxitos El ganador del Oscar Fernando Trueba (Belle Epoque) conoció al aclamado diseñador y artista Javier Mariscal hace diez años cuando le encargó el cartel y la creación gráfica para su documental sobre el jazz Latino Calle 54. A partir de allí, comenzó una fructífera colaboración: Mariscal realiza el interiorismo de la Sala Calle 54 Club en Madrid y diseña toda la imagen gráfica relacionado con la discográfica de Trueba, Calle 54 Records. Dice Mariscal: "Fue como encontrar un nuevo hermano. Muy pronto, nos hicimos íntimos amigos." La idea de hacer un largometraje de animación surgió de uno de los vídeos, "La Negra Tomasa" del músico cubano Compay Segundo. "Fernando lo vio", dice Mariscal, "y dijo: 'Es fantástico, me encanta como ha captado La Habana'". La película fue bien vista por la crítica al componer una «historia arrebatadora» gracias al «magisterio gráfico» de Mariscal y los «conocimientos de Trueba sobre jazz latino» por lo que tuvo un paso bastante discreto por la taquilla española. Entre sus premios destacan el de Premio a la mejor película de animación en la XXV edición de los Premios Goya y en la XXIV de los Premios del Cine Europeo. El 24 de enero de 2012 fue nominada para los Premios Óscar en la misma categoría. 2. Análisis formal En la película se distingue en la película los colores apagados y oscuros, esto se debe a la representación de los temas como la soledad, la traición, el desamor y la tristeza. Sin embargo cuando hay situaciones en las que resaltan temas como la alegría, la esperanza, el futuro y las innovaciones se interpretan con colores llamativos y estos, tanto unas situaciones como otras se acompañan de la musicalidad acorde a la situación. Como hemos mencionado anteriormente, esta película se sitúa en los años 40 en la cual afirmamos que es una película muy plástica tanto en escenas, colores, gestos, lenguaje y temas culturales adecuados a la época. Cabe resaltar que la película acaba con el triunfo de la revolución cubana por ello destacan muchos de los elementos característicos de esta revolución. Planos: - PRIMER PLANO: el plano encuadra a una persona desde encima de la cabeza hasta debajo de la clavícula, por lo que el rostro del personaje llena la pantalla. Este tipo de plano se utiliza para que sintamos y apreciemos los sentimientos del personaje. 6 - PLANO MEDIO: este plano va enfocado desde la cabeza hasta las rodillas. Limita al a los espectadores la acción y dirige su atención hacia el personaje. Con esto, podemos diferenciar los elementos mejor y los grupos de personajes pueden llegar a llenar la pantalla. - PLANO AMERICANO: Este plano encuadra desde la cabeza hasta las rodillas. Se le denomina americano ya que era utilizado en las películas de vaqueros. 7 - PLANO GENERAL: este plano abarca muchos elementos muy lejanos. En él los personajes tendrán menos importancia que el paisaje. 8 MONTAJE: - ORDEN (LINALES O SALTOS) Desde nuestro punto de vista pensamos que la película mantiene un orden lineal ya que los sucesos van ocurriendo cronológicamente desde se ven por primera vez hasta que se vuelven a reencontrar de ancianos pero por otro parte se producen saltos en la película, pero tenemos que destacar que se dan flashback en la película, donde Chico aparece de mayor haciendo recuerdo de su historia con Rita. Explicando el orden lineal, la película comienza con una amistad en la que Rita y Chico se conocen a través de un amigo (Ramón). Sin embargo esta amistad va progresando hasta que ambos llegan a enamorarse locamente y forman un grupo musical en el que ambos son protagonistas. Rita Martínez la cantante y Chico el pianista. Tras una de sus actuaciones a Rita le ofrecieron convertirse en una estrella de Nueva York; en un principio ella renunció la idea por su relación con Chico pero al ver la traición de Chico con la que fue su mujer decidió aceptar el trabajo. Años más tarde vuelven a reencontrarse en Nueva York donde vuelven a retomar su relación. Por un pequeño percance su relación vuelve a romperse. Finalmente, Chico fue el que se hizo famoso de mayor, al enterarse que Rita aún seguía viva fue en su busca. Cabe resaltar que en algunas escenas de la película, se produce un salto en el tiempo cuando aparece Chico de anciano como si estuviese recordando o contando la historia.

[email protected] Abstract: During the years of the economic crisis, ‘broke celebrities’ attracted the attention of the Spanish media. The main aim of this paper is to analyse how these narratives of celebrities in bankruptcy fostered a neoliberal definition of the economic crisis and legitimised austerity policies. In these narratives, the crisis was represented as a social equaliser, affecting all social groups evenly; the causes of the crisis were individualised and celebrities were identified as the epitome of irresponsible citizens who have 'lived beyond their means'; and citizens were encouraged to do 'whatever it takes' to find a job. Nevertheless, our paper also shows how audiences contested some of these values in online comments, challenging the narratives conveyed by Spanish media. DE JUAN PADRÓN Y CHICO Y RITA DE FERNANDO TRUEBA Y JAVIER MARISCAL ABSTRACT This article aims to analyze the representation of cultural identity in two animated films: ¡Vampiros en la Habana! (1985) produced by Cuba’s ICAIC studios, as compared to a recent production from Spain, Chico y Rita (2010), directed by Fernando Trueba and Javier Mariscal. I argue that while Padrón’s film uses humor as a device to deal with the complex political and social context of the eighties, it also emphasizes the Cubanness of its characters, conjugated as both cubanía and cubaneo. Trueba and Mariscal, in turn, use animation language to mold their movie along the lines of cubanismo or “Buena Vista effect”, i.e. the commodification of a local (Cuban) identity. Animation here serves as a way to stress movement, sensuality and music of the region and the “Caribbeanness” of the characters.

In 1971, he moved to Barcelona and studied graphic design at the Escuela Elisava. He founded Rrollo Enmascarado, an underground comic. He started his professional career with several artistic exhibitions at the end of the 1970s, which included “El Gran Hotel” in the Galería Mec Mec (Barcelona 1977). At the same time, he also started his work as a designer in areas as diverse as textile, graphic illustration, furniture and interior design (Bar Duplex, Marieta, Tráfico de Modas). He published numerous magazines and some books, such as Abcdari Il.lustrat (Barcelona 1978). He designed the poster Bar Cel Ona, which became one of the city’s icons (Barcelona 1979). Focusing on the evolution of jazz and traveling from Havana to New York, Chico y Rita is a tribute to the music, culture and people of Cuba in 1948, almost a decade before Castro. Chico is a young piano player with big dreams. Rita is a beautiful singer with an extraordinary voice. They are joined by music and love, but their journey—in the tradition of the Latin ballad, the bolero—brings heartache and torment. From Ha- vana to New York, Paris, Hollywood and Las Vegas, two passionate individuals battle impossible odds to unite in harmony. Mariscal, whose work often has a cartoon-like quality, applied a neo-realist approach to this project. His animations bring a sensuality to this profound and gripping film, now touring the festival circuit (Chico y Rita has already earned critical praise at Telluride and is now headed for other festivals in Canada and the United States). In addition, Mariscal has a retrospective currently on view through January 30 at the Pedrera de CatalunyaCaixa in Barcelona, where his work is divided into six thematic spaces as a way to explain his many methodologies.
