  • Revitalization of the AM Radio Service ) ) ) )
Before the FEDERAL COMMUNICATIONS COMMISSION Washington, DC In the matter of: ) ) Revitalization of the AM Radio Service ) MB Docket 13-249 ) ) COMMENTS OF REC NETWORKS One of the primary goals of REC Networks (“REC”)1 is to assure a citizen’s access to the airwaves. Over the years, we have supported various aspects of non-commercial micro- broadcast efforts including Low Power FM (LPFM), proposals for a Low Power AM radio service as well as other creative concepts to use spectrum for one way communications. REC feels that as many organizations as possible should be able to enjoy spreading their message to their local community. It is our desire to see a diverse selection of voices on the dial spanning race, culture, language, sexual orientation and gender identity. This includes a mix of faith-based and secular voices. While REC lacks the technical knowledge to form an opinion on various aspects of AM broadcast engineering such as the “ratchet rule”, daytime and nighttime coverage standards and antenna efficiency, we will comment on various issues which are in the realm of citizen’s access to the airwaves and in the interests of listeners to AM broadcast band stations. REC supports a limited offering of translators to certain AM stations REC feels that there is a segment of “stand-alone” AM broadcast owners. These owners normally fall under the category of minority, women or GLBT/T2. These owners are likely to own a single AM station or a small group of AM stations and are most likely to only own stations with inferior nighttime service, such as Class-D stations.

HAMILTON (Under the Direction of John Weaver) ABSTRACT This study examines the various stereotypes that persist about the American South, giving consideration to the common stereotypes, their persistence, and the response of Southerners and non-Southerners to them. Further, it aims to examine in-depth the methods by which these stereotypes are perpetuated, such as literature, movies, television, and music. Within this dissertation, pieces of literature by traditional Southern authors, like William Faulkner and Tennessee Williams, are examined for the images they employ. Further, films such as Deliverance and Sweet Home Alabama, as well as television shows like The Dukes of Hazzard and The Beverly Hillbillies are analyzed for how they convey stereotypes about the South.

  • The M Street Journal Radio's Journal of Record NEW YORK NASHVILLE
The M Street Journal Radio's Journal of Record NEW YORK NASHVILLE January 6, 1999 Vol. 16 No. 1 MEGA -GROUPS GO DIGITAL. In OWNERSHIP, that is -- In a truly amazing development, eleven of the largest U.S. radio groups are taking an ownership position in Digital Audio Broadcasting developer USA Digital Radio. The USADR consortium began in the early 1990s with backing from CBS, Group W and Gar-- The surviving owner is CBS -- and M Street got very curious when we spotted an FTC filing a couple of weeks ago about CBS' ownership of USADR. Now the cat's out of the bag and it's a HUGE story (and one that Lucent may not love to hear). With one fell swoop, USA Digital guarantees itself backing from twelve of the country's biggest radio groups, with combined revenue of over $5 billion. Here are the eleven newest broadcast owners of USADR, listed alphabetically: Chancellor, Citadel, Clear Channel, Cox, Cumulus Media, Emmis, Entercom, Heftel, Jacor, Radio One and Sinclair. A new non -broadcast investor is Chase Capital Partners. USA Digital is still developing its In -Band On- Channel systems for AM and FM DAB. But if you're Lucent, which just spun off a separate company last year to join the DAB Derby -- this announcement isn't good news. We'll follow the story for you this year, week by week. IT AIN'T "YOUNG COUNTRY" NOW, PODNUR. Infinity is de- emphasizing the "Young Country" package at the first station to pioneer the concept back in 1992 -- KYNG, Dallas.

  • Vermont Radiological Emergency Response Plan
INCIDENT ANNEX 9A VERMONT RADIOLOGICAL EMERGENCY RESPONSE PLAN Fixed Facility VTSEOP April 19, 2016 LEAD: Department of Public Safety, Division of Emergency Management and Homeland Security SUPPORT: Due to the decommissioning of Vermont Yankee, as of April 15, 2016, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), and Entergy Vermont Yankee Nuclear Power Station (VYNPS) consider the Emergency Planning Zone (EPZ) to cover only the plant site itself. As such, much of the material contained within this response plan, unless otherwise indicated, is for historical reference purposes or for use in an unmitigated long term event without an appropriate response. The State of Vermont provides guidance to state agencies, local municipalities, and other supporting agencies and organizations that might be called upon to respond to a radiological emergency at a nuclear power plant in the form of a Radiological Emergency Response Plan. This plan is primarily written to address incidents and/or accidents at Vermont Yankee Nuclear Power Station in Vernon, Vermont. Vermont Yankee stopped operating in December 2014. This version of Incident Annex 9A completely replaces the December 2015 version. As such, it does not track individual changes throughout the document. See the following page for a summary of the changes. This plan is approved for public release. While supporting plans and procedures may have restricted distribution or be classified, this base document does not contain sensitive or personal information. Revised April 2016 State Emergency Operations Plan CHANGE SUMMARY This revision (April 2016) completely replaces the old versions of the plan based on changes in risks, potential consequences, and resources with the reactor shut down.
