Welcome to an amazing season of grace and favor. The Goodness of God has manifested into a multitude of blessings. This is the 9th year celebration of the Oasis Montagé Magazine and we are grateful and thankful that God pushed us through with our mind stayed on Him. This journey has been a faith walk and the seeds we planted have blossomed with a majestic mission of completion. The non-profit, Oasis Montagé Ministries organization had a busy year, Oasis fed the homeless, the women of the domestic violence shelter, and the churches with the food pantry. For 2 years, we maintained a children’s Wsummercamp and thanks to 108 Praise Radio, the children produced and aired a radio show. In December, 2018, we blessed more than 600 children with toys to economically challenged children. The Oasis Montagé Ministries produced 3 sold out stage plays as well as unify broken homes through our CASA work. A tlanta ranks among the top in U.S. cities for human trafficking. During Super Bowl LIII, nearly 200 people were arrested as result of a sting operation held to curtail sex trafficking (often with children) during Super Bowl weekend in Atlanta, earlier this year. As someone whose own 16 year-old great niece was trafficked by her mother (my nephew’s ex girlfriend), who God has blessed me to be able to rescue, I want to become a change agent and collaborate with like-minded individuals who are influencers, to put a stop to this travesty that is enslaving thousands of our women, girls and even our boys and young men around the country and the world. To that end, my theatrical company and Magazine, Oasis Montagé, along with Praise 108 Radio and Visions 105.1, are non-profit organizations coming together to produce the Kickoff concert starring Earth,Wind & Fire review and X-Factor Finalists Lillie McCloud, October 11th, conference October 12 and Angels Palace Stage Play, October 13th 2019. October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and we want to maximize awareness of both human trafficking and domestic violence through this conference. We will be working with organizations that work to prevent human trafficking like Georgia Cares or Wellspring Living, to ensure we get in front of middle, high school and even college students. In order to educate and empower people on major issues impacting our community. Sex trafficking is yet another serious issue in our community. We must take a stand to fight what man has done to destroy humanity.

16 OASIS/Montagé • August 2019 astor Jamal Harrison Bryant is an anointed Pastor, Community Leader, Motivational Speaker, Media Personality, and rising menswear faith-based Style PIcon. During his transition as the newly appointed pastor of New Birth Missionary I would say to Ministries he has taken the Atlanta metro African American men area by storm! Just recently he along with the congregation raised $120,000 to do not allow culture bail out first-time nonviolent offenders to define your manhood in Georgia counties. The motivation but find your identity in behind his effort was due to Pastor Bryant recognizing the church has been your family history. muted in prison reform. He immediately took action requesting financial support from the congregation and stakeholders,

OASIS/Montagé • August 2019 17 features resulting in a large financial donation. Celebrities such as Clifford Joseph Harris—also known as T.I.—teamed up with the church and made nationwide headlines in a matter of days.

Some of his additional initiatives as the newly appointed Pastor include feeding 5000K homeless men and women during a Super Bowl celebration. This was a direct, hands-on approach to facing the needs of this underprivileged community. Pastor Bryant made a huge impact and the church not only served meals but also provided hair styling services. He is definitely not the type of clergyman to stand on the sidelines and wish for a change. Pastor Bryant is proactive and involves the church in efforts that truly matter.

Sex Trafficking is often a hidden topic within the African-American community but this is not the case for Pastor Jamal Harrison Bryant. As a millennial pastor, he is aggressively bringing this issue to light weekly on his network show “Power To The People.”

With a passion for change and personal motto, “Love, Lead, and Live like Christ” he not only inspires the community to strive higher through hands-on outreach but also encourages African- American men to play an active role in the lives around them.

Pastor Jamal Harrison Bryant sat down with Oasis Montagé Magazine to share a few of his

18 OASIS/Montagé • August 2019 thoughts about faith and the influence of art and fashion in the religious community. He is not only known for his moving sermons; addressing topics such debt and financial wellness but his personal style is an inspiration to the church weekly. Pastor Bryant can be seen wearing Embroidered Button-Down tops, Tailored Plaid Blazers, or African print shirts. Creating a personal brand through individuality that adds style and flair to his sermons.

On the cover, he is featured wearing the Bespoke Plaid Suit from Connaisseur Paris, Peachtree, Georgia location. The boutique is an apparel business with additional offices in Silver Spring, .

Can you describe how do fashion and art have a place in the ministry? God was absolutely decadent and creative when you look at the earth and realize that he was mindful of everything in particular. The sky was blue and the grass is green; the flowers are red. He is the original interior decorator. God in creation is in no uncertain terms an artist. All of us should embody in some level an art form. My house, growing up was filled with art and music. My mother called it a sanctuary. It wasn’t always James Cleveland but sometimes it was Aretha Franklin and other times it was Nina Simone. Our walls were always covered with art; it was a reflection of God’s opulence in the earth. When you go into a

OASIS/Montagé • August 2019 19 features sanctuary you’re able to tell it’s a sanctuary not just because of the cross but also because it’s stained glass windows that’s a reflection of the art and culture at that time.

As a pastor, tell us whom do you admire the most and why? The person I admire the most is my grandfather Bishop Harrison James Bryant who at 23 years of age went to the 7th grade. He was the tallest in the class and oldest but was committed to education and in spite of starting late put himself through Wilberforce University and then theological seminary. He was the very first in my family to receive a doctorate degree. I’m very proud of the legacy that he left for our family and I always want to uphold the values that he imparted; I am proud to be carrying his name as Jamal Harrison Bryant.

If you had one piece of advice to share with the younger generation of African-American men, what would you say? I would say to African American men do not allow culture to define your manhood but find your identity in your family history. Research the men in your family find not just their accomplishments but also their failures and build on it. Realize that you are in fact a torchbearer for the next generation. Remember, the generations yet unborn are going to be looking for your model; let them find not just your failure but also your success!

20 OASIS/Montagé • August 2019 What is the future for Pastor Jamal Bryant? The future of Pastor Jamal Bryant is absolutely unknown because a year ago I would have had no earthly I do idea that I wouldn’t be living in or pastoring Empowerment Temple. I did not know that I would be living in Atlanta pastoring New Birth Missionary Church. So literally not as a cliché or tongue-in-cheek my future is in the hands of God.

In 1978, there were 2 little girls that walked to school together, had sleep overs, jump roped, played jacks, marbles and hopscotch. They kept secrets even in mischief but protected one another. They grew up together knowing life challenges would one day separate them. They encountered boyfriends, marriage and family but kept a lifetime bond and healing heart to remain forever friends. Through the years, they lost contact but vowed to keep the forever friendship bond. From being childhood friends living in Colorado to family moves to include ones overseas, they maintained the knowledge they would keep the faith to one day come together again. After more than 8 years of no contact, God’s amazing grace brought friends back together. When uniting, they found to have very similar family lives; they were both married to pastors. They both have similar medical conditions; Lupus and Multiple Sclerosis. Although the illnesses have no cure, God has been their source of a healing heart that maintains them as forever friends.
