www.stedna.org 3 St. Edna ~ Parish St. Edna Campus Upgrades New Ministry Opportunities!

(Graphic conception of mounted video screen)

New presentation and communication tools give rise to new opportunities to be involved in the St. Edna community. We are adding two video monitors in church (as pictured), and three cameras with necessary equipment to allow St. Edna to livestream Mass. Adding these upgrades is intended to help our parishioners and online visitors to have a better experience of the Mass, and other events at St. Edna. We are extremely excited to announce the formation of ministries around these upgrades. Two new Media Technology Ministries are being formed. One ministry will be related to creating and managing screen content during Mass and other events, and the other ministry is to manage the livestream of Mass and other events. Are you technically inclined? Are you comfortable with PowerPoint or similar software (for video screen)? These ministries are open to all parishioners from high school to retirement. All areas of expertise are welcome. There will be training sessions conducted, for both ministries. For further information and to get involved, please contact: Nancy Wolowicz: [email protected] or Gary Daigle: [email protected] or call 847-398-3362. Please join us as we move forward with this exciting project and technology. We hope to be completely up and running by the end of July, 2021. Thank you for your interest in these Ministries.

4 May 23, 2021 St. Edna ~ Parish

During the next few months, we will be introducing you to the Volunteers that help keep St. Edna working. The time and talent of these volunteers often go unnoticed, however without them St. Edna would not be as prosperous as it is. We begin with an introduction to those that are on the front line, The Greeters and Ushers that meet and Greet you at each Mass. Most of them came on board last June to help re-open St. Edna for Mass services. They attended and completed a webinar regarding the AOC protocols for re-opening of the Church. Since we have opened, we have seated over 15,000 people. Thanks to their hard work and resilience, we have been able to slowly increase attendance. The Greeter/Usher teams are doing their best to accommodate all St. Edna Parishioners, so please be patient and follow directions to help with a safe and spiritual return. Our Greeters and Ushers have graciously volunteered for several special services, Christmas, Easter, Stations of the Cross, Ash Wednesday and First communions, which served over 5,000 parishioners. There have been several changes in protocols, and they have remained flexible in adjusting to make St. Edna a safe place of worship for all that attend. This would not be possible without their great dedication. Please join me in thanking them for all they do.

I would like to start off by introducing you to the 5:00pm Saturday evening group which includes Phil Bares (Team Captain) and his team. Pictured: Phil Bares, Terri Foloky, Rob Zembraski, Donald Bouchard, Richard Rabs, Linda Transon, Joann and Don Skiba, Camille Murray, Kathy and Tom Mannard. Volunteers not pictured Mick Donahue. I look forward to introducing you to the rest of our Greeters and Ushers in the upcoming weeks. Joe Coleman

Parish Life Commission www.stedna.org/parishlife Stewardship Bulletin Reflection May 23, 2021 — Pentecost Sunday ACTS 2:1-11; PS 104:1, 24, 29-30, 31, 34; 1 COR 12:3b-7, 12-13; JN 20:19-23

Our Easter season culminates with the glorious feast of Pentecost. We can imagine how incredible that moment was for the apostles and all who witnessed it. The Holy Spirit was alive and working. The Holy Spirit is just as alive and willing to work here and now in our day-to-day moments as back at our first Pentecost. Our First Reading bears witness to the first Pentecost. During this encounter with the Holy Spirit, the apostles and Mary felt a driving wind, there were tongues of fire on the heads of each of them and the Spirit allowed them to speak in different tongues proclaiming acts of God. We might hear this reading and wish the Holy Spirit worked that obviously in our lives each day. The truth is, the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives is obvious — we just might be blind to it, or it might be that we have closed ourselves off to the Holy Spirit’s wonderous works. Our tongues of fire might be a profound conversation with a friend, something that you needed to hear in that exact moment, or even a closed door to an opportunity for something much, much greater. These are movements of the Holy Spirit in our everyday moments. The more we take time to recognize them, the more we become aware of them. On this Pentecost Sunday, let us give thanks to God for sending us His Holy Spirit. And let us strive to be in tune with the Holy Spirit by looking for the ways God has been working in our lives.
