Under the Shatin to Central Link (SCL) project, the East Rail Line will extend across Victoria Harbour from Hung Hom to Admiralty via Exhibition Centre Station in Wanchai North. Upon the opening of the “Hung Hom to Admiralty Section”, passengers from the New Territories will be able to enjoy more time-efficient journeys to urban areas without any interchange to Island. The travelling time from Hung Hom to Admiralty will be shortened from approximately 18 minutes to about 5 minutes. The commissioning of the “Hung Hom to Admiralty Section” will depend on the opening date of the Tuen Ma Line. Therefore, the Corporation needs to derive a clearer picture of the progress on the Tuen Ma Line before setting the target completion date for construction of the “Hung Hom to Admiralty Section”.
