I havejjeenjijsocial activist besides being a popular movie star having worked in more than 200 films in various languages of my country. In addition, I have been crusading against the scourage of drugs for a long time. I have also been holding camps for collecting blood through voluntary donations at various places in our country. I am in politics for the past over twenty years and was elected as a member of Indian Parliament (Upper House) in February, 1996 un-opposed.

Educational Qualification Brought up and educated in . Studied in Collegiate School and Patna Science College of Patna.

Professional Qualification Graduated from Film & Television Institute of India, in the year 1967-68.

Records of Career Started career in films in the year 1967-68 with bit roles. Then gradually switched over to bad man's roles and became the most popular and loveable reel life villian of his times, who used to get applause on his entry on the screen - unimaginable for a reel life villian - creating sort of history which never happened anywhere, before or after 1972-73. Finally switched over and was accepted in a big way by the masses as a leading man with classic hits like and Vishwanath etc.. Has more than 200 movies to his credit so far, which includes more than 150 films as a leading man.

In addition to the above, has worked in Punjabi, Gujarati, Bhojpuri, Bengali, Tamil and Telegu movies.

Awards 1. B.F.J.A. Award for best supporting actor in "Tanhai". 2. Ratna for philanthropic activities. 3. Punjab-Kala-Shree Award as Best Actor for film "Khudgarz". 4. His starrer, "Antarjali Yatra", Directed by Gautam Ghosh (made by NFDC) in Bengali, won Grandprix, "Golden Semurg" award at Tashkent in 1988.

In his 25th Year of glorious profession, won All India Filmgoers award "Abhinaya Samrat".

Social & Political Activities Was greatly influenced by Loknayak Jaiprakash Narayan's movement in 1974. This was the turning point in his life and made him turn to politics to meet his obligations and duty towards the country.

Was named a Paul Harris fellow by the Rotary Foundation of Rotary International in April, 1996 in appreciation of tangible and significant assistance given for the furtherance of better understanding and friendly relations among peoples of the world.

Has visited various countries around the globe including USA, Pakistan, South America, Canada, UK, Australia, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia and Mauritius on many an occasions on the invitation of several Indian and foreign organisation/governments of those countries.

Visited Pakistan in 1984 and was declared State Guest by the then President Zia-ul-Haq.

Was Grand Marshall on India's Independance Day Parade in New York in mid eighties. Thereafter, he again was Grand Marshall on the same occasions in following years in Los Angeles and San Fransisco in California on the invitation of Federation of Indian Association and others.

Attended the Golden Jubilee Mela in August, 1996 on the occasion of India's Independence Day on the invitation of Indian Association in North America and UK and was presented Award of Honour in New York (USA) and Toronto for his contribution to the Indian Cinema.

Joined and was their star campaigner during the last elections. His charismatic character and oratorial skills were responsible for the victory of quite many MLAs and MPs in the last election. Recently toured all over India as Party's National Leader and campaigned for the elections held in March1 98.

Has also been crusading against drug addiction amongst youth of the country by arranging anti-drug programme in various schools and colleges in Bihar as well as other parts of the country. Is also associated with "Prayas" an orgainisation which is engaged in rehabilating orphans of Delhi's slums in a big way.

Has been campaigning for raising funds for homes for the blind and appealing to people to donate their eyes after death very vigourously specially through Shatrughan Sinha Fan's Association (SAPA) in Bihar and directly throughout India.

Many blood donation camps have been organised under his guidance through SAFA in Bihar and in other parts of the country.
