Field and Petrographic Studies on Granitoids of the Bibinagar- Bhongir Area, Yadadri District, Telangana State, India

The major rocks types are in the present study area are volumetrically in decreasing order of granite, granodiorite, quartzmonzonite and diorite. They form massive weathered boulders, pointed hillocks and batholithic domes. All these rock types are described as felsic granitoids displayed two main Phaneritic texture features: (1) Porphyritic (inequigranular) and (2) non-porphyritic (equigranular), and these textural features have a regional variation from south to north from the study area. Non-porphyritic granitoids (grey granite gneiss, granodiorite and diorite) have fine to medium grained equigranular-hypidiomorphic texture, while the porphyritic varieties (pink granite and quartzmonzonite), and show very coarse to coarse- grained inequigranular porphyritic texture. Field relationships of the granitoids indicate that the porphyries are younger than the non-porphyries due to cross-cutting relations between them. The granitoids are characterized by quartz, K-feldspar (microcline) and plagioclase as essential minerals and hornblende and biotite as minor minerals. Augite, Fe-Ti oxides, apatite, zircon and epidote form important accessories. They show massive form with inter locking mineral grains in the field and exhibit typical perthitic, myrmekitic and hypidiomorphic textures under the microscope. -

FM Holds Inter-Ministerial Meeting on Banning Sugar Futures Sugarcane
NEWS FLASH –24th August, 2016 SUGAR FM holds inter-ministerial meeting on banning sugar futures Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Monday held an inter-ministerial consultation on imposing ban on sugar futures trading in an effort to curb speculation and check price rise of the sweetener during festival season. MoS for Food C L Chaudhary, secretaries from Food, Consumer Affairs, Agriculture and finance ministries were present in the meeting. The meeting comes in the backdrop of the Food and Consumer Affairs Ministry recommending the regulator Sebi to ban sugar futures trade to check prices. Sugar prices in the retail markets have risen in last few weeks and are ruling at Rs 42 per kg in the national capital. “We discussed about banning sugar futures trading in the meeting called by the FM. It was an initial discussion and nothing was decided,” Chaudhary told Press Trust of India after the meeting. Food Secretary Vrinda Sarup echoed the same and said: “Nothing has been finalised on banning sugar futures.” Sugar is largely traded on leading agri-commodity bourse National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange (NCDEX). The exchange has already raised the margin amount to be deposited by both sellers and buyers on its platform. To check prices, the government recently imposed an export duty of 20 per cent on sugar as part of its efforts to curb outbound shipments and boost domestic supply. India’s sugar production is estimated to decline to 25 million tonnes in the 2015-16 season (October-September) from 28.3 million tonnes in the previous year. The outlook for the next year is not encouraging as sugar production is pegged lower at 23.26 million tonnes. -

Petrological and Geochemical Studies on Granitoids in Bibinagar- Bhongir Area, Nalgonda District, Telangana, India

Journal of Engineering Research and Applications www.ijera.com ISSN: 2248-9622, Vol. 6, Issue 4, (Part - 2) April 2016, pp.57-63 RESEARCH ARTICLE OPEN ACCESS Petrological and Geochemical Studies on Granitoids in Bibinagar- Bhongir Area, Nalgonda District, Telangana, India. Ch. Ramakrishna1, G. Mallesh2, Ch. Ravi3, and M. Narsimha Reddy4 1234Department of Geology, University College of Science, Osmania University, Hyderabad-07 ABSTRACT The Granitoids of the Bibinagar- Bhongir area in the Nalgonda district are purely high potassic calc alkaline and meta aluminous and A-type belongs to Peninsular Gneissic Complex of the Eastern Dharwar Craton. The petrographic study of granitoids indicates that of pure magmatic origin in the form of different magmatic textures viz. perthitic, porphyritic and poiklitic textures. Geochemically the granitoids are rich in K2O & Na2O suggesting source from calc-alkaline magma. The Granitoids are falling mostly in the volcanic arc field on Yb vs Ta discrimination plot. The REE pattern shows strong Eu negative anomaly, suggesting early separation of plagioclase and the enhanced level of LILE relative to HFSE in Bibinagar-Bhongir granitoids points to the subduction zone enrichment and/or crustal contamination of the source region.
