November 1, 2015

Dear Mr. Steven Rackliffe,

I write to inform you about our internship program at . We are currently preparing for the 2016 BMW Championship and have had to update much of the course in order to provide the playing conditions desired by both our Members and the PGA tour.

The ideal candidate will be an energetic, goal-oriented individual with an eye for detail and desire to learn.

Over the last two years we have completed a tremendous amount of small and large scale projects to make the golfing experience at Crooked Stick Golf Club better than it has ever been. In 2014, we rebuilt and enlarged one of our putting greens, built two new tournament tees, renovated multiple sets of other tees, installed over 5 miles of infrastructure drainage, and completed roughly 50% of a cartpath renovation. Some of the bigger changes of the 2014 season were the construction of a 2 acre lake that takes up a large portion of the 3, 17th hole and completed a bunker renovation that included the construction of eight new bunkers, additional drainage, and installation of Better Billy Bunker Liner.

We are currently finishing a complete renovation of our practice facility. Along with the practice area renovations we have been progressively completing our cartpath renovation, rebuilding all of our crossings over water features, and most importantly focusing on promoting healthy turfgrass so that we can be at the top for 2016. One unique aspect at Crooked Stick is that a majority of our large renovations are done in-house so staff members and interns are exposed to a great deal of construction projects. Our most recent tournament was the 2012 BMW Championship, which was voted the PGA Event of the year, and we are making every effort possible to ensure that the next event is better.

Interns will have a large role in helping to complete any remaining projects in the spring as well as continue to improve the playing conditions of the . During the 2016 season much of our effort will be placed on manicuring playing surfaces to provide perfect playing conditions for both the Members of Crooked Stick and PGA tour players. Due to the timing of the tournament, students will be involved with and witness the transformation of a great golf course into a great tournament venue. The unprecedented experience offered through an internship at Crooked Stick is an opportunity of a lifetime and I hope that students are not hesitant to contact me with any questions.

Sincerely,

J.R. Lynn Assistant Golf Course Superintendent Crooked Stick Golf Club (317) 619-4902
