BULLFROG Music for All Your Musical Needs from Rock to the Classics CHEQUER MEAD Community Arts Centre Venue Guide January - april 2015 Jamie Frank/Kellie Maloney Allan Shirley Williams Joe McElderry Freddie Starr Des O’Connor www.chequermead.org.uk Leo Tolstoy once said “Spring is the time of plans and projects.” Well we certainly have plenty of those ahead. Chequer Mead is thriving and that is thanks to your support. I believe we have a very varied programme that offers something for everyone. We are seeing bigger and better acts, and consequently, bigger audiences, leading to many sold out shows. We are also seeing many visitors from outside the East Grinstead area, who are spreading the good word and returning with friends and family. With the improving quality of acts and new visitors, we have to change and improve with them. We have many plans for the centre, all of which are to enhance the experience of visiting our intimate venue. I ask you to embrace these changes and understand that they are all done for the good of Chequer Mead, and with the aim of a long and sustainable future. Take a look through the programme, and I’m confident there will be something in here that will be of interest. We have also launched our new app through mytheatre.com. Now you will be able to check out what is going on at Chequer Mead on the train home, or waiting to see the doctor! The app is downloadable from itunes or google play and is absolutely free. Don’t forget you can book your tickets online at www.chequermead.org.uk Thanks for your continued support and I look forward to seeing you in the theatre PETE JENKINS Centre Manager 2 Card transaction fee applies box office: 01342 302000 book online - www.chequermead.org.uk HOW TO FIND US 5P-POEPO 5P5VOCSJEHF8FMMT $SBXMFZ " " $ 0 - - & WE ARE HERE! As a Friend of Chequer Mead you will greatly benefit the Art Centre. Your annual membership fee is used by the small Friends committee to provide items to enhance the centre for all its users and hirers. In recent years we have been able to provide full height mirrors for the meeting and rehearsal rooms, child booster seats, 80 new chairs, stage condenser microphones, clip frames in The Pavilion, the planters by the front entrance, portable modesty screens. We continue to raise funds and meet the centre manager regularly to find out what is needed. In return, we offer Friends concessions on some shows, we hold quarterly ticket draws so you could win a pair of free tickets to a show. We hold events just for Friends and Volunteers for example, we recently held a wine tasting evening, quiz night and a talk and we email regular newsletters to keep you informed of upcoming events and shows. If you are interested in helping further, then why not join the Committee? We raise funds in addition to the membership fees by holding regular raffles, table top sales and run a 1001 Club.
