By Wayne Goddard It’s time for my annual after-the-show article, and I’ve got good news in every department. The picture at the top shows extremely well that the Show was well attended. I’ve been thinking about the overall effect of our Show on the knife world and even on the city of Eugene, it really is a big deal and should stack up well with other three day events. The Show started early for those at the Metallurgy Round Tableat 9am on Friday, the set-up day. Phil Wilson ran the show and gave us the benefit of his testing of many of the latest steel types. Frank Cox of Niagara gave us an update on their purchase of Crucible. John Steedman from Bohler told us about only in passing it’s the kind of thing I wake up thinking about and keep the steel types they have coming back to throughout the day. It may have been in a movie fifty- for knives. I need to something years ago, or it may be a studio made duplicate. Their rendition of Amazing Grace caused more than a few wet cheeks. It was inspiring and uplifting as we prepared for our battle to make sales. I’m always amazed at the wide variety of knives and related things that show up and how far people come to take it all in. Every year there is one knife that stands out above all the others. This year it was a silver mounted Bowie knife that was wonderfully made. Both the knife and classic tooled sheath were silver mounted, what an outfit! It was unforgettable, stunning, original, artistic and absolutely wonderful. It has been said that good art brings out emotion in the observer. That knife and sheath got my emotions of appreciation. or whatever it was, at the top of my ability to grasp what was going on. Although I saw it Continued on page 2. Club logo.
