Visual Metaphors on Album Covers: An Analysis into Graphic Design’s Effectiveness at Conveying Music Genres by Vivian Le A THESIS submitted to Oregon State University Honors College in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Honors Baccalaureate of Science in Accounting and Business Information Systems (Honors Scholar) Presented May 29, 2020 Commencement June 2020 AN ABSTRACT OF THE THESIS OF Vivian Le for the degree of Honors Baccalaureate of Science in Accounting and Business Information Systems presented on May 29, 2020. Title: Visual Metaphors on Album Covers: An Analysis into Graphic Design’s Effectiveness at Conveying Music Genres. Abstract approved:_____________________________________________________ Ryann Reynolds-McIlnay The rise of digital streaming has largely impacted the way the average listener consumes music. Consequentially, while the role of album art has evolved to meet the changes in music technology, it is hard to measure the effect of digital streaming on modern album art. This research seeks to determine whether or not graphic design still plays a role in marketing information about the music, such as its genre, to the consumer. It does so through two studies: 1. A computer visual analysis that measures color dominance of an image, and 2. A mixed-design lab experiment with volunteer participants who attempt to assess the genre of a given album. Findings from the first study show that color scheme models created from album samples cannot be used to predict the genre of an album. Further findings from the second theory show that consumers pay a significant amount of attention to album covers, enough to be able to correctly assess the genre of an album most of the time.

Without new theological language, we are likely to be hesitant, reluctant, or unable to speak about the divinity we struggle with, reject, call upon in times of need, or experience in daily life. Yet ideas about the sacred are one of the ways we orient ourselves in the world, express the values we consider most important, and envision the kind of world we would like to bring into being.

  • The Divine Feminine Rabbi Rami M
The Divine Feminine Rabbi Rami M. Shapiro Beyond Tolerance Lecture, November 20, 2011 Rabbi Rami M. Shapiro is adjunct professor of Religious Studies at Middle Tennessee State University and writes a column for Spirituality & Health magazine. t is very exciting to be here at Juniata College. It has been a great weekend so far. I am looking I forward to talking with you, but not for too long because I would rather spend the time talking with you than talking at you. Before I talk about the divine feminine let me tell you about this most incredible thing, better than anything I can say. On the bottom of this sheet it says, “Some questions for Rabbi Rami.” They sent me questions, and I sent back my answers. I must have made a typo here, but a brilliant typo. It is like the spirit working through me, as opposed to my egoic mind trying to be cool. This is so much better. So, the second question is, “What is one of your favorite words?” I wrote “Sat-shit-ananda.” Now, that is not what it is supposed to be. It is “sat-chit,” C-H-I-T, not S-H-I-T. Sat-chit-ananda; pure being, pure kindness, pure bliss. But I like “sat-shit-ananda,” pure being, pure crap, pure bliss. That is so much better! Because really, life is filled with crap, and can you still find ecstasy in the garbage? I am doing a series of books for Spirituality Health Books and one of them is on gratitude, but I cannot put this in there.

As multicultural communities become more inclusive and global, it is valuable for counsellors to become more familiar with the different types of spiritual experiences that individuals are having. By attending to such experiences, counsellors may address how current forms of spirituality encourage healing, growth, and development, thereby increasing our understanding of human potential. Furthermore, many cultures are emerging from a religious history that portrays a male god as supreme, and the predominant images of the Divine as masculine.

  • Sacred Sexuality: Reclaiming the Divine Feminine
Sacred Sexuality Reclaiming the Divine Feminine A'ra Blair Foreword I believe that Sacred Sexuality, Reclaiming the Divine Feminine is an important gift to women of every age, race, and culture. It is not just about sexuality. It is about reclaiming the truth of who we are as beautiful, feminine expressions of the divine. This book is about the soul remembrance of the sacred journey of the feminine and how to live it fully. Over the last few years there has been a great deal of talk about the 'Divine Feminine'. I have watched national and international groups of women gather to honor our existence on the planet and invite the female population to step into a place of empowered living. There have been tele-seminiars and webinars on how to reveal our divinity. There has been an outcry of need for women of the world to remember that innate power that lives within us all as we move forward in an expansive time in history. In my life time, I have witnessed women being persecuted, discounted, and mistreated. I have also witnessed women rise in power, statute, and visibility in this world in amazing ways. The dichotomy of these experiences has often perplexed me. How can we be so wonderful and so misunderstood at the same time? Of course, there are no answers except that as a culture we are not awake in our treatment and care of women. I don't just mean mistreatment by men. We, as women, have not been taught how to honor and care for ourselves.
