Building Communities, Empowering Families habitatbucks.org ACCELERATED IMPACT!

With your support, we’re leading the way in building aordable homes for low-income households in Bucks County. We’re always looking for ways to have an even greater, faster impact, and one way is through the renovation of existing homes.

e U.S. housing market remains extremely uneven. While some areas have rebounded signi cantly from the recession and have a robust housing market, others continue to grapple with high rates of vacant, abandoned and distressed properties. is weakens nearby home values, creates health and safety risks, lowers local tax revenues, and thwarts neighborhood revitalization eorts.

e same is true here in Bucks County. Habitat Bucks has purchased several properties listed with the National Community Stabilization Trust (NCST) with the goal of rehabilitating them into energy ecient Habitat homes. (e NCST is a non-pro t organization that seeks to restore vacant and abandoned properties to productive use and protect neighborhoods from blight.) So, we are taking on the challenge of expanding our impact. With this new model, we can help three families achieve their dream of homeownership in about the same time it would take to build a single brand-new house.

We recently dedicated our rst two renovated homes, one in Quakertown, and Tina and Bill’s home in Morrisville; we have six more coming up soon in Bristol, Levittown, and Morrisville. Our home sponsors have also embraced the idea of faster, greater impact. Everyone is happy when a former neighborhood eyesore becomes a beautiful, restored home. Just like new!

Habitat Bucks is making “Aging in Place” a safer choice

We know that the over-65 age group is growing quickly. To help residents of Bucks County age in place safely, Habitat Bucks has added a Safe at Home specialty to our Home Repair program.

Well-placed grab bars, improved lighting, widened doorways and wheelchair ramps can make a big dierence in helping a homeowner avoid a nasty fall or gain much improved access to their beloved home. Our sta can share ideas to help make your home a good t for all, regardless of age or ability.

With the support of sponsors and trained volunteers we’re reaching out to make a signi cant dierence in quality of life.
