Altufyeva Alexandra Andreevna Modern technologies in level-based education and international partnership The paper focuses on different forms of international partnership in education and their contribution to establishing competitive educational environment. Keywords: educational technology, international partnership.

CALIFORNIA MARINE FISH LANDINGS FOR 1972 LEO PINKAS Marine Resources Region 1.1. INTRODUCTION The protection, propagation, and wise utilization of California's living marine resources (established as common property by statute, Section 1600, Fish and Game Code) is dependent upon the welding of biological, environment- al, economic, and sociological factors. Fundamental to each of these factors, as well as the entire management pro- cess, are harvest records. The California Department of Fish and Game began gathering commercial fisheries land- ing data in 1916. Commercial fish catches were first published in 1929 for the years 1926 and 1927. This report, the 32nd in the landing series, is for the calendar year 1972. It summarizes commercial fishing activities in marine as well as fresh waters and includes the catches of the sportfishing partyboat fleet. Preliminary landing data are published annually in the circular series which also enumerates certain fishery products produced from the catch.

  • The Abcs of Living with Dogs
The ABCs of Living with Dogs Care and training resources About Best Friends Animal Society Best Friends Animal Society is a leading national animal welfare orga- nization dedicated to ending the killing of dogs and cats in America’s shelters. In addition to running lifesaving programs in partnership with more than 2,500 animal welfare groups across the country, Best Friends has regional centers in New York City, Los Angeles, Atlanta and Salt Lake City, and operates the nation’s largest no-kill sanctuary for companion animals. Founded in 1984, Best Friends is a pioneer in the no-kill movement and has helped reduce the number of animals killed in shelters na- tionwide from 17 million per year to about 800,000. That means there are still nearly 2,200 dogs and cats killed every day in shelters, just because they don’t have safe places to call home. We are determined to bring the country to no-kill by the year 2025. Working collabora- tively with shelters, rescue groups, other organizations and you, we will end the killing and Save Them All. For more information, visit bestfriends.org. About Sherry Woodard Sherry Woodard, Best Friends’ resident animal behavior consultant, wrote many of the resources in this manual. As an expert in animal train- ing, behavior and care, she develops resources, provides consulting ser- vices, leads workshops and speaks nationwide to promote animal welfare. Before joining Best Friends, Sherry, a nationally certified professional dog trainer, worked with dogs, cats, horses, and a variety of other ani- mals. She also worked in veterinary clinics, where she gained valuable experience in companion-animal medical care and dentistry.

  • My Life As a Night Elf Priest Technologies of the Imagination New Media in Everyday Life Ellen Seiter and Mimi Ito, Series Editors
My Life as a Night Elf Priest technologies of the imagination new media in everyday life Ellen Seiter and Mimi Ito, Series Editors This book series showcases the best ethnographic research today on engagement with digital and convergent media. Taking up in-depth portraits of different aspects of living and growing up in a media-saturated era, the series takes an innovative approach to the genre of the ethnographic monograph. Through detailed case studies, the books explore practices at the forefront of media change through vivid description analyzed in relation to social, cultural, and historical context. New media practice is embedded in the routines, rituals, and institutions—both public and domes- tic—of everyday life. The books portray both average and exceptional practices but all grounded in a descriptive frame that renders even exotic practices understandable. Rather than taking media content or technology as determining, the books focus on the productive dimensions of everyday media practice, particularly of children and youth. The emphasis is on how specific communities make meanings in their engagement with convergent media in the context of everyday life, focus- ing on how media is a site of agency rather than passivity. This ethnographic approach means that the subject matter is accessible and engaging for a curious layperson, as well as providing rich empirical material for an interdisciplinary scholarly community examining new media. Ellen Seiter is Professor of Critical Studies and Stephen K. Nenno Chair in Television Studies, School of Cinematic Arts, University of Southern California. Her many publications include The Internet Playground: Children’s Access, Entertainment, and Mis-Education; Television and New Media Audiences; and Sold Separately: Children and Parents in Consumer Culture.

INDIVIDUAL COPYCATS: MEMETICS, IDENTITY AND COLLABORATION IN THE WORLD OF WARCRAFT By Phillip Michael Alexander A DISSERTATION Submitted to Michigan State University in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY Rhetoric & Writing 2012 ABSTRACT INDIVIDUAL COPYCATS: MEMETICS, IDENTITY AND COLLABORATION IN THE WORLD OF WARCRAFT by Phillip Michael Alexander This dissertation uses the Massively Multiplayer Online Game (MMOG) World of Warcraft as a location for inquiry into how players learn to collaborate, forge identities, and achieve both personal and group goals. I focus specifically on a memetics based framework, looking at how memes operate within WoW while paying careful attention to what gamers do to develop individual and group identities in light of so many things in the game being memetic. The study focuses around two guiding principles: there’s a lot of modeling and copying/replicating happening in WoW, but gamers still work to build individual and group identities that represent something unique. • The Great Big Marvel Character Index (GBMCI) Compiled by Andrew Goldstein [1]
The Great Big Marvel Character Index (GBMCI) Compiled by Andrew Goldstein [1] Version 1.0, last revised 01/20/2018 This index notes each character from the Marvel Universe that was described in one or more MARVEL SUPER HEROES game products. The abbreviations used herein follow. The letter D, followed by a number, indicatesthat the character was mentioned in that issue of DRAGON® Magazine (issues #88 to #198). The letter P, followed by a number, indicates the given issue number of POLYHEDRON Newszine in which a character was mentioned (issues #18 to #61). Some products listed did not mention specific heroes or villains, but are included here to show the complete line of MARVEL SUPER HEROES game products. In cases where character entries occupy multiple pages, the page number given denotes the beginning page of the character entry. Note that this index ONLY includes characters published under the TSR "FASERIP" system; it does not include source material for the SAGA or any other subsequent incarnation of the Marvel RPG, or unpublished "vaporware" works in progress that were never commercially released, etc. This index also does not include various issues of the Marvel-Phile and other publications which do not include character information (for example, the various Ultimate Power Book addenda, Q&A, and the character indexes themselves) although some of those articles do include non- character stats (e.g., Marvel Universe technology, or real-world miltary generic stats). The TSR-produced miniatures sets are likewise not listed, because why the heck would you need to look those up? The index will eventually include fan-made material that follows the same system, as relevant to the Marvel canon.
