2015 Edition TESDA: the Authority in Technical Education and Skills Development Republic Act No 2015 Edition TESDA: The Authority in Technical Education and Skills Development Republic Act No. 7796, otherwise known as the Technical Education and Skills Development Act of 1994, declares the policy of the State to provide relevant, accessible, high quality and efficient technical education and skills development (TESD) in support of the development of high quality Filipino middle-level manpower responsive to and in accordance with Philippine development goals and priorities. The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) is tasked to manage and supervise TESD in the Philippines. Vision TESDA is the leading partner in the development of the Filipino work- force with world-class competence and positive work values. Mission TESDA provides direction, policies, programs and standards towards quality technical education and skill development. Values Statement We believe in demonstrated competence, institutional integrity, personal commitment and deep sense of nationalism. Quality Policy "We measure our worth by the satisfaction of the customers we serve" Through: Strategic Decisions Effectiveness Responsiveness Value Adding Integrity Citizen focus Efficiency MESSAGE TESDA recognizes that whatever strides the Philippine technical vocational education and training (TVET) sector has achieved through the years cannot be solely attributed to the Agency. These accomplishments are results of the concerted efforts of all stakeholders who share the vision of developing the Filipino workforce that is armed with competencies that respond to the challenges of the new global economic landscape. The Agency therefore continues to expand and strengthen partnership with various groups and institutions. These partnerships have paved the way to improved public perception on TVET and TESDA and better opportunities to its graduates. May these partnerships continue to bind TESDA and its partners in the pursuit of world-class competencies for every Filipino worker and inclusive growth to all Filipinos. Maraming salamat, TESDA partners! IRENE M. ISAAC Director General FOREWORD This Directory of TESDA Partners is the Agency’s simple gesture of recognizing its partners on their contribution in improving the delivery of TVET that likewise helps sustain the government’s efforts towards socio-economic development. As a result of the initial efforts of the Partnerships and Linkages Office (PLO) in documenting TESDA’s partnerships from 2010 up to the present is this Directory containing the profile of close to a thousand partners working closely with TESDA in various parts of the country. The partners are from industry associations, companies, institutions, non-government organizations, local government units, national government agencies and development programs such as scholarships, skills training, assessment and certification, and promotion and advocacy, among others. Through this Directory, we hope that other stakeholders would be encouraged to look into their requirements and resources and consider TESDA as a strategic partner in achieving their goals while at the same time contributing to the development of the community where they operate. We are optimistic that the number of our partners would increase as the various stakeholders have recognized the value and importance of TVET in transforming people’s lives towards the “Masayang Pagbabago” being espoused by the Agency. • The Wife of a Gambler: Lived Experiences of Student-Wives Whose Husbands Are Constantly Involved in Cockfighting
Proceeding of the International Conference on Education and Business (ICEB) 29-30 October 2019, Manila, Philippines THE WIFE OF A GAMBLER: LIVED EXPERIENCES OF STUDENT-WIVES WHOSE HUSBANDS ARE CONSTANTLY INVOLVED IN COCKFIGHTING DR. LUZLYN AZURA CAFÉ [email protected] ORCID No.: 0000-0002-1582-8287 Director, Planning, Research and Extension Eastern Samar State University-Maydolong Maydolong, E. Samar, - Philippines ABSTRACT Student-wives play a multi-tasking role in the family that they deal more than one task at a time. The role of the mother is to support and promote the physical, emotional, social, and intellectual development of a child (www.child.encyclopedia.com). Aside from a multi-tasker, the participants of this study are also students who need to comply with the college demands. The problem under investigation was the issues, problems encountered, and coping mechanisms experienced by student-wives in dealing with a cocker husband as they functioned in their multiple roles of student-wife-mother. Participating in this study were the 15 student-wife enrolled in Eastern Samar State University-Maydolong, Maydolong Eastern Samar which was identified through snowball sampling. The stress, the pains that student-wives underwent in her everyday struggle is a phenomenon that is not understood by their partners. A stress-strain-coping-support mode was used to enlighten how these issues about behavior, thoughts and, emotions of the participants were addressed. This phenomenological study used interviews, focused group discussions and essay documents from the participants. Results showed that student-wives experienced financial and emotional problems and tried to cope through understanding, crying, praying and to be more focused on attaining her goal – to earn a degree.
