Thematic Apperception Test The purpose of this monograph is to summarize professional literature on dependency and to discuss its imphcations for vocational rehabilitation. The review begins with a. discussion of relevant psychoanalytic. learning. developmental, and sociocultural theories since behavioral manifestations of dependency differ and are related to factors in the particular milieu which precipitates them. Expressions of dependency are grouped in five categories: social. emotional. financial. institutibnal. and psychomeclical. Methodological procedures for the study and measurement of dependency include self-report measures such as the Edwards Personal Preference Schedule. profective techniques such as the Thematic Apperception Test. and ratings through observation. The types of handicaps with which dependency ts. associated are physical disability, emotional disorders. chronic illness, and social disability.It was observed that while expressions of dependency are related and similar, they must be dealt with by differing interventive techniques on the part of the rehabilitation personnel. Creative Arts Educ Ther (2017) 3(2):47–59 DOI: 10.15212/CAET/2017/3/6 Rising After the Storm: Interweaving Indigenous Philippine Dance and Music and Western Classical Music for Recovery and Wellbeing 暴风雨后的崛起:交织菲律宾本土舞蹈、音乐和西方古典音乐 以期康复和健康 Gina Alfonso Cartwheel Foundation, Philippines Abstract Long-term recovery programs for the survivors of typhoon Haiyan – as it struck the Philippines in 2013 – were inevitably characterized by a convergence of Eastern and Western approaches to health and wellness due to the sectors involved in the process. Local community volunteers and local/international non-profit organizations joined forces to offer socio-emotional support to over 100 families of Tagbanua heritage on three islands in the area of Culion, Palawan, Philippines. This paper presents the blending of Eastern and Western perspectives on post-traumatic symp- toms, on well-being and on the human condition. The combined spirit of compassion and bayani- han (a Filipino term for togetherness in common effort) shared by the relief workers and the Tagbanua is also described. Narratives about the unexpected discovery of inherent indigenous ways of coping through dance – and a therapeutic encounter that involved a dialogue between Tagbanua and Western classical music – are highlighted as examples of the interweaving of art- based healing practices from the East and West which contributed towards recovery and the restoration of health. General guidelines specify that the program must: (1) be oriented towards the whole learner; (2) consider the unique role of the family in personal development and integration into society and the nation; and (3) recognize and emphasize the role of teachers who themselves must possess a proper sense of values and respect for the person of the student. -
Learning from Women and Children, Educ~Ting the Scholars and the Ordinary Man on the Street: the Filipino Nursery Rhymes
LEARNING FROM WOMEN AND CHILDREN, EDUC~TING THE SCHOLARS AND THE ORDINARY MAN ON THE STREET: THE FILIPINO NURSERY RHYMES Mario L. Cuezon Filipino and Western scholars have done research on our legends, myths, fables, riddles, proverbs, songs, and epics. A handful of scholars have included nursery rhymes in their study of the folklore of a region. In the main, however, interest in the collection and/or preservation of Filipino folk nursery rhymes - lullabies, counting songs, pronunciation poetry, singing games and teasing songs - is not evident. As a result, our nursery rhymes are excluded from academic discourse. While a survey revealed that samples of nursery rhymes have been collected from among the Tagalog, Gaddang, Bicol, Blaan, Antique, MandayalMansaka, Maranao, Capiz, and Pangasinense, there is a need to gather samples of nursery rhymes from other language groups in order to compare and analyze the various rhymes, some of which may be pre Hispanic in origin. Why not consider the haunting l1i IIi Tulog Anay of the I1ongos as the national lullabye and some other poems as national teasing songs? If songs like Sarong Banggi of the Bicolanos, Atin Cu Pung Singsing of the Pampangos, Manang Biday and Pamulinawen of the llocanos, Dandansoy of the Cebuanos, are taught in our schools, why not lullabies, counting songs, singing games, teasing songs? But first, our scholars and teachers should learn the importance of nursery rhymes. Secondly, the rhymes have to be gathered from the children ofyesterday and the mothers and fathers of today. The nursery rhyme is a literary form we learn from women and children or from our childhood. -

Alfredo Pereira Jr.,1 Chris Nunn,2 Massimo Pregnolato3 and Greg Nixon4 Consciousness and Cosmos Building an Ontological Framework Abstract: Contemporary theories of consciousness are based on widely different concepts of its nature, most or all of which probably embody aspects of the truth about it. Starting with a concept of con- sciousness indicated by the phrase ‘the feeling of what happens’ (the title of a book by Antonio Damasio), we attempt to build a framework capable of supporting and resolving divergent views. We picture con- sciousness in terms of reality experiencing itself from the perspective of cognitive agents. Report of the Psychology Project Team: Establishment of a National Psychology Placement Office Report of the National Psychology Project Team: Establishment of a National Psychology Placement Office and Workforce Planning 15 January 2021 1 Report of the Psychology Project Team: Establishment of a National Psychology Placement Office Foreword Following a review of Eligibility Criteria for staff and senior grade psychologists in 2016, an Implementation Group was established to implement the revised standards. The Implementation Group recommended the establishment of a National Psychology Placement Office. Inter alia an action from the Department of Health, to prepare a workforce plan for psychological services in the HSE, including an examination of the framework for training psychologists for the health service and the type and skill-mix required for the future, was required, HSE Community Operations convened a Project Team to progress the recommendation of the Implementation Group and to make a contribution to a workforce plan for psychological services provided for, and funded by, the HSE. The Project Team that developed this Report included representation from Clinical, Counselling and Educational Psychology; Social Care, Disability, and Mental Health services; Community and Acute services, Operational and Strategic HR, and the Health and Social Care Professions office. The work of the Project Team was also informed by a stakeholder consultation process. Cross-sectoral and stakeholder involvement reflects the intent to ensure all relevant stakeholders continue to feed into the management of student placements and workforce planning into the future. It is anticipated that the governance and oversight structures to be established under the placement office will embody stakeholder collaboration and engagement. -

EFFECTS OF UNMET NEEDS AN EXAMINATION OF THE EFFECTS OF UNMET PSYCHOLOGICAL NEEDS ON MENTAL AND PHYSICAL HEALTH Amélie Beausoleil Dissertation submitted to the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Clinical Psychology School of Psychology Faculty of Social Sciences University of Ottawa © Amélie Beausoleil, Ottawa, Canada, 2012 EFFECTS OF UNFULFILLED NEEDS ii Abstract The importance of psychological needs for optimal mental and physical well-being has been well documented within the literature. However, there remains little consensus on the definition of basic psychological needs, on which needs are most important or fundamental, and on how to best assess basic needs in individuals. The purpose of this dissertation was to develop and validate a comprehensive measure of fundamental psychological needs and to examine its predictive utility for both mental and physical health. To fulfil these objectives, measure construction and validation studies were conducted in 2 separate undergraduate student samples (N = 226; N = 283). Participants completed online self-report measures of emotional and psychological symptoms, negative life events, personality characteristics, and psychological needs. Factor Analyses of the Psychological Needs Questionnaire (PNQ) revealed that needs can be classified in a three-level multi-factorial confirmatory model and that self-worth and relationship types of psychological needs can be further divided into several, second-level factors. Results also indicated that the PNQ is reliable and possesses good construct validity as well as predictive utility for numerous psychological and physical problems. In addition, psychological needs moderated the relationship between depressive personality characteristics and mood.
