I would like to acknowledge the work of Adam Sutcliffe, Dave Wilson and Becks Blain and all the Junior team managers Junior Section Manager Dave Wilson 01904 481120 07803 925817 who went way beyond the call of duty to turn sides out each week U15 Team Manager Neil Claxton 01904 481249 07962 201318 We are preparing for what will be very significant developments in local league cricket. In 2016 four new elite premier leagues are to be formed across the county. The top 5 teams from the York Senior League U13A Team Manager Dave Wilson 01904 481120 07803 925817 in 2015 will join the local Yorkshire League clubs to form the County Premier League ‘North division’. In the new “pyramid” there will be a direct pathway for a Dunnington Under 9 player to progress year by U13B Team Manager Tbc year all the way to a place in the Yorkshire dressing room at Headingley. It is an exciting prospect for every ambitious player but equally, a massive challenge for a village club. Our President and Sponsors U11A Team Manager Adam Dyson 01904 410366 07838 499284 clearly recognise the scale of what needs to be done to bridge the gap until the youngsters come through and I am delighted to acknowledge the significant 3 year sponsorship arrangement with Pryers U11B Team Manager Tbc Solicitors to underpin the specific action plans. U9A Team Manager Jessie Pigg 07506 874834 Our ground clearly merits membership of the new County Premier league set up and it is a fine testa- ment to the work of Pat Wood, Ian Wilkinson & Joe Haigh. With all the extra junior activity and ap- U9B Team Managers Tbc proaching 90 matches to stage, a sincere thank you in anticipation on behalf of all the players! Once again we will be delivering the coveted “Chance2Shine” programme into our local schools. Last year Dunnington Primary, with the help of our C2S coaches, had a very successful run in the North Club Coaches (All ECB Qualified) Yorkshire Kwik Cricket competitions. Our task is to encourage youngsters to join and ensure that we nurture Juniors all the way through into adult cricket. To that end we do need extra support to come NAME HOME TEL. It is a big commitment for all our volunteers but it gives us probably the most realistic chance of being able to secure the long term Gary Andrew 01759 372836 07770 900176 playing sustainability of the club. Tom Wilson 01904 481120 07751 847296 Sustaining this ongoing commitment to Junior cricket coaching alongside the maintenance of our Neil Claxton 01904 481249 07962 201318 cherished facilities both fuel the need for extra funds. I am pleased to be able welcome the new “Ladies Committee” who have come on board to step up fund raising activities. We also plan to arrange Individ- Josh Tattersall 01904 489819 07745 624502 ual & team photo’s for sale. However we need to do more. To that end, could you help us find new Harwood Williams 01132 409006 07932 567520 sponsorship ? We have a whole range of options available from a match ball to Boundary Notice Board or banner advertising on the new covers. We will be very grateful for any offers or leads you can give. Dave Wilson 01904 481120 07803 925817 On behalf of all the players throughout the Club I would like to sincerely thank our President Colin Adam Dyson 01904 410366 07838 499284 Graves and to Ian Pryer for their ongoing support and inspiration. I would also like to thank all the other Jessie Pigg 07506 874834 companies, Vice Presidents and individuals, who have continued to generously support the club in such a difficult financial climate. Sam Tattersall 01904 489189 07927 406099 So, finally, to all the new members, young and old, I would like to extend a special warm welcome. • 2017 City of York Biodiversity Action Plan
CITY OF YORK Local Biodiversity Action Plan 2017 City of York Local Biodiversity Action Plan - Executive Summary What is biodiversity and why is it important? Biodiversity is the variety of all species of plant and animal life on earth, and the places in which they live. Biodiversity has its own intrinsic value but is also provides us with a wide range of essential goods and services such as such as food, fresh water and clean air, natural flood and climate regulation and pollination of crops, but also less obvious services such as benefits to our health and wellbeing and providing a sense of place. We are experiencing global declines in biodiversity, and the goods and services which it provides are consistently undervalued. Efforts to protect and enhance biodiversity need to be significantly increased. The Biodiversity of the City of York The City of York area is a special place not only for its history, buildings and archaeology but also for its wildlife. York Minister is an 800 year old jewel in the historical crown of the city, but we also have our natural gems as well. York supports species and habitats which are of national, regional and local conservation importance including the endangered Tansy Beetle which until 2014 was known only to occur along stretches of the River Ouse around York and Selby; ancient flood meadows of which c.9-10% of the national resource occurs in York; populations of Otters and Water Voles on the River Ouse, River Foss and their tributaries; the country’s most northerly example of extensive lowland heath at Strensall Common; and internationally important populations of wetland birds in the Lower Derwent Valley.

Back to Press Cuttings Title ` 1941 Press Cuttings Source Knaresborough Post Knaresborough Post 11 January 1941 A Birthday. – Older readers who remember the great attraction the old water carnivals 10 were, will be interested to hear that one of the townsmen who took a leading part in its organisation, mr G. E. Arnold, olf Scriven Road, who was chairman of the committee in 1910, celebrates his 80th birthday on Saturday. After a long and busy career, he is taking things more easily these days, but he is “still going strong” and maintains his keen interest in men and affairs.” Knaresborough Post 18 January 1941 FIRE WATCHERS AT KNARESBORO’ Shopkeepers’ Joint Scheme 20 At least one group of shopkeepers in Knaresborough has heeded the lesson of recent firebomb raids, and has this week combined to provide a voluntary fire watching service for their premises, which form a large block in the centre of the town. Mr W. B. Wilkinson, managing director of Messrs. Parr’s Ltd., High Street, called a meeting on Monday of traders with property in the block bounded by High Street, Market Street, Market Place and Silver Street, and the necessary organisation was set up. The meeting, which was attended by practically all the traders concerned, was held in the fire service’s recreation room in Gracious Street, and a short talk was given by Mr H. TY. Knutton, Chief officer, who pointed the moral of the fire raising raids and outlined suggested precautions. Mr Wilkinson told our representative that it had been decided to form a committee and to draw 30 up a fire watching rota, which would come into operation .....

City of York Historic Characterisation Project - 2013, Character area statements Character area 57: Tang Hall East Key Characteristics General Character: A ubiquitous mixture of 1930s to 1940s cul-de-sac estates and ribbon development that have no distinctive York features, with pockets of late 20th century development.
