Welcome to North Chesthill Estate Deer management activity and alternative routes

This is a small estate, experiencing overwhelming unregulated walking activity. Constant disturbance spooks deer and is adversely affecting the herds throughout the year, including calving in the summer.

From September to January deer stalking is taking place. The estate put up ‘DEER MANAGEMENT IN PROGRESS TODAY’ notices when this management activity is taking place. (These notices are displayed prominently in the Invervar Car Park and on The Invervar Hill Gate).

The Scottish Outdoor Access Code asks us to tell you when and where we are working and requires you as visitors to stay away from this affected area and walk elsewhere.

When these notices are displayed do not enter the on the north side of Glen Lyon above Invervar.

Alternative local routes to that of the Horse Shoe on North Chesthill where our business is conducted are shown on this leaflet. Please use the following alternatives during this short time. Thank you for your co-operation.

This area is a designated site (SSSI). The Estate supports an important range of economic activities. Our aim is to manage the estate to improve nature and rebalance the impact of current levels of unsustainable access. The Estate works very closely with access and conservation authorities on this issue and engages actively with other conservation programmes. Please help us all to develop a balanced access management programme. When you are on the estate you can do this by following the Scottish Outdoor Access Code, staying away when we are conducting our business, and when we are not, minimizing disturbance in particular by: • Using the recognized route around the Munros in a clockwise direction. • Following the ridges • Avoiding coming down through the Corries (valleys) • Walk quietly • Dogs on leads • Way Marks are being introduced to help you with navigation – please make sure you follow them in a clockwise direction towards Carn Gorm
