Tidewater/Albemarle Motorcycle Association In southeastern Virginia and northeastern NC there is an organization to help the motorcycling community keep track of all the rider events and assist in coordinating these activities, the Tidewater Albemarle Motorcycle Association (TAMA). While the exact date that TAMA was established or who the original officers were is still a little unclear, it seems that collective memory dates the association at over 15-20 years old. Today there is an average of about 17 clubs that participate in TAMA. There are two primary objectives of TAMA. First, TAMA is a scheduling coordinator for local motorcycle clubs and associations. Local clubs and associations attend TAMA meetings and work together to schedule events on a yearly basis. Second, is that TAMA provides for interaction between club members. We believe that it is this interaction that helps to break down communication barriers between clubs and reduces potential conflict within the motorcycle community. When riders can identify a name and face with another club, they are more willing to support riding events sponsored by other clubs. TAMA meetings are held the third Thursday of each month (except in December) at the Golden Corral on the corner of Battlefield Blvd and Volvo Parkway in Chesapeake, VA at 7:00 PM. The agenda of most TAMA meetings is to review and edit the yearly schedule. In regard to ride events, established dates from the previous year have a leg up on new events or new dates for old events. It is the last two categories that require some negotiation between the attending clubs to ensure that events are not conflicting with one another. TAMA meetings have other agenda items during the year. TAMA sponsors an annual Poker Run and Bike Show. Tradi- tionally, the profits from this event are split equally between charities in Virginia and North Carolina. Participating clubs decide how the funds will be distributed. TAMA provides an opportunity for the Biker community to work together and still promote their individual clubs and associations. At a basic level, TAMA is a great example of Bikers helping Bikers. It only works if the Biker community wants it to work and if clubs work together to coordinate their events. We invite all independent riders to attend our meetings and events as well as non TAMA clubs participation to help build bridges between the area clubs and help build good will throughout the communities we live in. TAMA encourages all clubs to attend the meetings and support each others events. This unity among Bikers is what makes our lifestyle one worth living!

You can find stylish safety glasses searching the web, or there is always a vendor(s) at rallies and shows that sell them. I have never paid over 10 bucks for a pair of goggles or glasses.

So, what do we do if someone suffers an eye injury out on the road, or anywhere as far as that goes? Well, first, we call for help, if the injury is severe enough call 911, then we get a good look at the injury to check the extent of damage. This could be something as simple as a particle of sand or dirt in the eye, to the eyeball protruding from its socket or completely missing. For a foreign object in the eye such as dirt or sand, this is a good time to pull out that sterile Q-Tip See Our Ad Page 40 swab that we carry in our First Aid Kit. Make sure you have a steady hand, a soft touch, a calm voice, plenty of good lighting, and try to swab out the particle. You can also attempt to wash it out with sterile water, like bottled water or tap water, using anything else can cause an infection. If the eye injury is severe, then you must cover the eye with a sterile piece of cloth or dressing from your First Aid Kit. If the eye is protruding or out of it’s socket, then try to cover the eye with

Place flour in a shallow bowl. 4 Cups of Shredded Extra Sharp Cheddar Cheese Drop crab mixture the size of 2 Tablespoonfuls into flour. CRISPY-CRUNCHY TOPPING Gently coat and shape into a 1/2-inch thick patty. Repeat 1 Cup of Plain Corn Flakes; put into a large zip-lock bag, w/ remaining mixture. A record number of friends old and new came out to show their support and what an awesome sound of thunder it was as the bikes rolled into Driver! Sherri lived in Driver her entire life and was loved very much by her family and friends. This event is a wonderful way for her friends and family to celebrate the memory of someone so terribly missed by all. Sherri was tragically killed by a hit and run driver 15 years ago while riding her Harley. She loved nothing better than to ride – rain or shine and it didn’t matter where you went – just put it in the wind. Sherri never met a stranger, always rooted for the underdog, and was a true friend .The monies raised www.ThunderbirdGrill.com from this event are donated to the Driver Volunteer Fire Department and the Sherri Parker Memorial Fund Inc. which maintains a memorial flower garden located at the gateway into Driver. We owe this growth to our member’s dedication to their fraternity and to the abil- ity to have enough foresight to realize the enormous potential of such an endeavor.
