Pinget's interest has not waned in the meantime. However, he graciously provided the following information in the 1965 letter. N6 en 1919, 6tudes de droit, licence, brevet d'avocat, Beaux-Arts de Paris (j'Stais dgalement peintre), voyages en Europe, en Afrique du Nord, en Asie mineure, aux USA (inviti par la Ford Foundation) et au Mexique.3 Born in Geneva, it was there that he took up his law studies; after receiving his brevet d'avocat, he left his birthplace in 1946 and settled in Paris in order to attend L'Ecole des Beaux-Arts where he pursued his interest in painting. He remained at the school for a period of four years during which time his paintings followed the prin­ ciples of the school, arriving at a personal abstract method at the time of his first exhibition in 1950. Benefiting from his art studies, he spent a year in England as a pro­ fessor of art and French. This love for painting was equaled during his childhood and adolescence by a profound interest in poetry. In later years some of his poetry was set to music and performed by Germaine Taillefer. Unable to express himself satisfactorily in the areas of painting or poetry alone, he turned to the medium of the novel. His first attempt at writing fiction, Entre Fantoine et Agapa, appeared in 1951. The work does not profess to be a novel 3Letter from Pinget. but is a collection of short tales. It does suggest, how­ ever, the world which the author is to explore and includes some structural and thematic forms on which the writer will continue to build in his succeeding works. Sa voix was found in 1952 with the writing of his first novel, Mahu ou le matdriau: MEt puis, un jour, ... j'ai dcrit Mahu. Ce fut le coup de foudre. ...j'ai su instantandment que c'dtait juste. ... J'avais trouvd ma voix."^ Although a playwright also, his output of plays has not been as great as that of his novels and some of these theatrical works are adaptations from the novels: Lettre morte (1959) is a reworking of some of the major points of the novel, Le Fiston; Clope au dossier reflects Ici ou ailleurs (1961) and La Manivelle (1960) represents a portion of the novel's preparatory work; Architruc (1961) utilizes the characters of Baga, and L'Hypothdse (1961) is related to the material of Autour de Mortin. His work in the theater has also brought him into close contact with Samuel Beckett in the field of collaboration. In 1957, he translated Beckett's radio play, All That Fall, into French (Tous ceux qui tombent) ; in 1960, he and Beckett translated the latter's play, Embers, into French (Cendres). Also in 1960, Beckett reciprocated by translating Pinget's play, La Manivelle, into English (The Old Tune). ^Madeleine Chapsal, "Qa crSve, ga crdve," L*Express, 6-12 ddcembre 1965, p. 120. 4 In spite of the prolific literary endeavors of Pin­ get, to date there has been no book written devoted to his works exclusively, although, from time to time, he is in­ cluded in critical discussions of the modern literary direc­ tions in France. The bulk of the critical research as re­ gards his works lies in book reviews and some short articles or essays, the greater part of which has been undertaken in France.

    NIELSEN MUSIC YEAR-END REPORT CANADA 2016 NIELSEN MUSIC YEAR-END REPORT CANADA 2016 Copyright © 2017 The Nielsen Company 1 Welcome to the annual Nielsen Music Year End Report for Canada, providing the definitive 2016 figures and charts for the music industry. And what a year it was! The year had barely begun when we were already saying goodbye to musical heroes gone far too soon. David Bowie, Leonard Cohen, Glenn Frey, Leon Russell, Maurice White, Prince, George Michael ... the list goes on. And yet, despite the sadness of these losses, there is much for the industry to celebrate. Music consumption is at an all-time high. Overall consumption of album sales, song sales and audio on-demand streaming volume is up 5% over 2015, fueled by an incredible 203% increase in on-demand audio streams, enough to offset declines in sales and return a positive year for the business. 2016 also marked the highest vinyl sales total to date. It was an incredible year for Canadian artists, at home and abroad. Eight different Canadian artists had #1 albums in 2016, led by Drake whose album Views was the biggest album of the year in Canada as well as the U.S. The Tragically Hip had two albums reach the top of the chart as well, their latest release and their 2005 best of album, and their emotional farewell concert in August was something we’ll remember for a long time. Justin Bieber, Billy Talent, Céline Dion, Shawn Mendes, Leonard Cohen and The Weeknd also spent time at #1. Break out artist Alessia Cara as well as accomplished superstar Michael Buble also enjoyed successes this year.

Narrow cracks in rocks (crevices) and tree holes protect animals from larger predators. Most animals can’t make crevices bigger but many animals make holes bigger. Once they have a hole big enough, they move in. A burrow is an underground hole or tunnel. Some burrows have one entrance but other burrows may have many “rooms” and several ways in and out.

By studying its dramatic landscapes and probing into their multi-sensory manifestations in line with Symbolist theory and aesthetics , I argue that Pinter’s theatre articulates an ecocritical stance and a micropolitical critique.

ABSTRACT This thesis is an examination of the cinematic representations of women in the inter-war period in France and Germany. By investigating five films produced during the period from 1918 to 1933, this work analyses the portrayal of women in two societies facing great upheaval. I examine the representations of women in the films through analysis of the presentation of gender, female sexuality and pronatalism, patriarchy and the dichotomised portrayal of women through the Neue Frau and la femme au foyer and class. Furthermore, I examine the similarities and differences in female portrayal which can be found between the two countries. The five films to be examined are La souriante Madame Beudet (1922), La fille de l’eau (1924), Fanny (1932), Die Büchse der Pandora (1929) and Der blaue Engel (1930).

A pesquisa toma como objeto de análise o casal Brian e Justin de Queer As Folk. Com base em diferentes teóricos, os conceitos homossexualidade, homoerotismo e o termo homoafetividade colaboram para entender as definições acerca da atração por pessoas do mesmo sexo. Além disso, lançamos mãos da literatura sobre televisão, abordando as narrativas seriadas e um breve histórico sobre os personagens gays na TV. Palavras-chave: Queer as Folk; Homoafetividade; Homossexualidade; Séries televisuais Introdução O presente artigo é um recorte da pesquisa para o Trabalho de Conclusão de Curso “Homoafetividade na TV: análise das séries Queer As Folk, The L Word e Looking”4. O estudo foi realizado com as primeiras temporadas das séries citadas a fim de responder a questão: como são representados os casais homoafetivos em séries de TV americanas? Ou seja, de que maneira os afetos entre casais homossexuais são construídos pelas narrativas serializadas americanas? Neste artigo, abordaremos a construção da homoafetividade no casal Brian Kinney e Justin Taylor usando como corpus a primeira temporada de Queer As Folk. A série lançada em 2000 foi exibida originalmente no canal Showtime, nos Estados Unidos e no canal Showcase, no Canadá. Mostra, em cinco temporadas, histórias dos amigos gays Brian Kinney (Gale Harold), Michael Novotony (Hal Sparks), Emmet Honeycutt (Peter Page), Ted Schmidt (Scot Lowell) e Justin Taylor (Randy Harrison).
