Warner Bros. Celebrates Boomerang with Cereal Pop-Up

10.07.2017

Warner Bros. wanted to provide its fans the ultimate Saturday morning experience this weekend in New York City: an endless supply of cartoons and cereal.

The Get Animated Invasion celebrates the launch of Boomerang - Warner Bros. and partner Turner's streaming service animated content - by connecting fans with some of Warner Bros. most well-known cartoon characters (, Marvin Martian, and to name a few) in an experiential pop-up complete with a milk and cereal bar.

"We wanted to connect with our fans in new ways," said Josh Hackbarth, vice president of animation franchise management. "We wanted to make sure we gave people an experience. [At the pop-up] it doesn't matter if they are with little kids or 20 years old - everybody goes right back to watching cartoons and eating cereal," Hackbarth said of the dozens of iPads scattered around the pop-up playing Warner Bros. classic cartoons such as , and Tom and Jerry on the Boomerang service.

The SoHo pop-up featured Bugs Bunny's forest complete with giant life-size carrots, a collection of Marvin the Martians designed by guest artists and a peek into Jerry's furnished mouse hole.

Ryan Kilpatrick, vice president of consumer marketing for Boomerang and , said Warner Bros. cartoons' appeal to young and old is simple: "They're funny. Everybody needs a reason to laugh. I think people remember these shows and characters from their own childhood and are now sharing it with their children."

"I hate to use the word 'timeless' but they kind of are - and the new content doesn't drift away from that," said Kilpatrick, referencing some of the brands' newer animated offerings such as Dorothy and the Wizard of Oz.

Boomerang, the standalone video streaming service launched in April through a partnership between Time Warner's Turner and Warner Bros., is the exclusive streaming destination for Warner Bros. extensive animated canon, including Hanna-Barbera and . It features new and old content and both series and movies.

Fans can subscribe to Boomerang for $4.99 a month or $39.99 a year.
