HPLC2013 Amsterdam is the third meeting in this series that is held in The Netherlands – after 1987 (Amsterdam) and 2001 (Maastricht). Not bad for a country with mostly baseline and very few peaks. Throughout the last fifty or sixty years many chromatographers gathered in our country, starting with van Deemter and following on with the likes of Carel Cramers, Udo Brinkman, and the brilliant Hans Poppe, as well as imported talent, such as Joseph Huber and Roland Frei. Like painters in the 17th century they all found their way to Amsterdam. Amsterdam is one of the natural hubs of the old and the new Europe. Odds are that you found it easy to get here. In fact, odds are that you have been here before and that you will come back. Although us Dutch can be impolite and ill-mannered (not only the cab drivers), we do appreciate you being here. To demonstrate our hospitality, just about everyone in Amsterdam can communicate with you in English. We offer you a generous amount of separation science this week. We have three hours of lectures on a typical morning or afternoon, plus posters, technical seminars and tutorials. We offer you generous amounts of coffee, food, and drinks (on four occasions during the week). We offer you free internet at the conference and Petra’s posse is offering all the help you need. And, yes, we are frugal! I have great memories of the incredible HPLC1987 Amsterdam. Our aim is to give you a week that you will treasure until at least 2040. On behalf of the entire team of HPLC2013 Amsterdam, welcome! Peter Schoenmakers 3 Sponsors The organization of the HPLC symposium would not have been possible without the generous and invaluable support of the following companies and organizations., Platinum Sponsors Agilent Technologies Agilent Technologies is a global provider of leading measurement technology for evaluating the environment, foods, pharmaceuticals, industrial processes, and biological samples for over 40 years and has 19,0000 employees worldwide.
